I still don't think we can win the title under FSG, barring some kind of weird Leicester-type miracle.

Obviously us winning it wouldn't be anything like as miraculous, but the teams who have dominated the title over the last decade or two have been the ones with absurdly rich owners who don't give a fuck about a "sustainable business model" and just chuck a billion pounds at the problem.

We can't compete with oligarchs and we have even less hope of competing with entire countries full of Arab oil.

Yep. Fuck it. We have, despite everything, managed to keep at least a semblance of the real Liverpool FC through all this bullshit. That will do for me for now.

Winning the league next year would be fantastic but it's unrealistic. Under Klopp we haven't put in a sustained title challenge yet because the squad isn't good enough and the club haven't spent the money needed to make us competitive in all competitions each year. I'm not having a go at Klopp or the owners necessarily as at times the team performs brilliantly but if you look past our core 15 or 16 players the rest aren't good enough and until that changes we will be between 3rd and 5th each year.
The top teams in the league this year will be City and United who both have huge squads of capable players and they can cope far easier than we can with injuries and loss of form. United even did it by playing utter shit for most of the season.

You can win Cup competitions with small squads and a bit of good luck with injuries but it's only Leicester in recent memory who have been able to win the league like that and all the top teams imploding at the same time certainly helped their cause. Not a fluke but certainly an anomaly.
It seems that the club are taking steps to recruit more players for next season to make us stronger overall and that could make it quite interesting if the new players settle in quickly but the year after is the one where it's more likely.

I seen young Kluivert at Ajax is wanting a move to Man Utd.

What young footballer in their right mind would want to sign for Mourinho.

If true, I guess they wanted us to pay based on some indicator of his worth now rather than when we signed him. And final league place is that indicator albeit an indirect one.

Yes it’s mystifying...

I would have thought the price should be lower if they performed better. That's the way I worked have bargained it if I was RB
That isn't how it works though ! Do you pay a striker more for scoring less ? Or a defender more for conceding goals than keeping them out ? 😀

As Keniget said - the higher RB finish then the more his value increases.

It's a moral hazard. He can play poorly and save his future employers £20m (which we could pay him as a signing on bonus instead) as well as save himself from injury.

If it were the other way around, we'd ask him to break his balls for RB. It'd be a win-win

[article]As per a surprise claim on the part of Ignacio Miguelez, a presenter on Spanish TV show Ignacio Miguelez, Mina will have the chance to prove himself in another top European league next season, with the Colombian reportedly all set for a summer loan switch to Liverpool[/article]

Why the fuck would we take Barca's players on loan? They might be confusing us with Everton.

Why not ? - we don't have to pay a full transfer fee - and have a player that can fill a need we have for one season - and even we cannot buy him at the end of the season - we can maybe identify someone for the following season when we do have the money. It's all good mate - we may get a decent player for a season that we can treat as a full pro - without having to work out songs, or getting attached - it's like have a prostitute in your team for a season.

I'm super excited about our summer transfers. For some stupid reason I think we'll be buying 3/4 top players who can bolster the squad and make a really competitive first 11.

Hopefully we're not left pissed off again, and hopefully we start even before champ league. Firstly with Nabil after Houllier was at a field this afternoon

Keita is done
Rumours of Butland, Fekir

Will be a very interesting summer. The transfer window opens on Thursday.

Butland *is* better than Mignolet, and I'm all for extra home grown players, but we should be aiming higher if he's there for a first choice option. Back up I'm fine with

Kieta - was supposed to be from the budget of last year ?

Ok so we get Fekir to add to our attacking options - that is enough as we will have Dom, Ings, and others in reserve.

Butland ? - don't know if really required - but I like that Newcastle guy.

We need another defender - another organiser and we are sorted.

Milner is getting older so we need another workman like midfielder - one with experience, now is their any truth in Sami Khedira ? or what about that free guy Max Meyer ?

3 workman like, and 3 attacking mids should do us ok as this season has.

Should be good enough all this bollox.
