I don’t think FSG are ever going to “throw” big bucks at the club - why should they?
They don’t seem to be be in any way bleeding the club dry - instead making it self sufficient.
The only investment that would “make sense” for them was if it was significantly increasing sale value ahead of a planned sale - they’d want any return in investment.
Investment in building infrastructure might return more.
We’ve got cash from the Coutinho sale, enhanced commercials, more return from stadium and more from the CL run.
That’ll be invested - we’ll spend maybe £200m which will be self generated - ie funded by income not frombthe owners pocket.
Which is fair enough... in my book.
Imagine how it would explode IF we won the league next season...
The following for the team is increasing across the world at the minute, certainly in part due to the Salah effect, but the sport is growing in the US and in Asia also...
The fact of the matter is that they bought us on the cheap and we do have a massive following. I take your point we are not purchasing the silverware with oil money but I just get the feeling we could be financially much bigger IF we backed the manager like crazy this summer.
Why sell at all? They have the chance to make us a superpower and they should take it.

This massive following thing is overstated, commercially.
How does the massive following increase benefit the club financially - I spend fuck all on direct merchandising.
The money is in what people are prepared to pay to watch the games on tv... which is about what companies are prepared to pay for rights... which then gets distributed relatively fairly across the league.
Spending a fortune on players doesn’t increase that return - the big money is doing well in Europe - which we are - without major investment.
Football is fucked financially - the clubs that run at a profit are financially doped - look at City for example.
If I was FSG - theirs no way I’d be chucking multi-millions of my own money into Liverpool FC.
There is no return on that investment... other than a massive sale.

Without question I'd sign him in a heartbeat...

Knows how to score against defensive teams, great on-the-ball and creative skills which aren't age related, loves the club and I'd imagine would not object to a return to the city. Let me think : Solanke or Ings or Suarez ... hmmm tough call. 2 more years out of him would be well worth it.
When you put it like that, it seems so obvious.
But most clubs have better strikers than Ings and Solanke, so upgrading isn't exactly difficult.

You say rotation - so who plays the big games? who do you push to the flank? That weakens Bobby's game AND probably Suarez too, as he's not the same young player he was with us ...
We need a better striker than Solanke & Ings ... but 50 million on Suarez? It seems like a risky investment.
Bearing in mind that gifted teenagers are currently available at 200M.... nah... it isn't a risk is it...
Even if Suarez had a bad season he would get 20 odd goals, and he is versatile, and experienced and with a great attitude the minute he steps on the pitch. I'd be surprised if Barca sell for 50M but if they want to I wouldn't think twice...
I don't know if he is a Klopp style player but he is a brilliant player and we do need squad depth and he certainly would provide that.
Suarez has the game intelligence and passing skills, not to mention workrate, to be able to play behind the front three if necessary. And when Bobby’s knackered with passes going astray and shots being shite, like he’s been the last few games, Suarez would be a savior at the tip of the attack. Sadly it’s likely this rumor is bollocks.

Catalonian sports channel Esport 3 believe Barcelona would consider sanctioning the sale of Luis Suarez if they sign Antoine Griezmann this summer.
Barca are heavily linked with the Atletico goal-grabber, and Suarez - who departed Anfield for the Camp Nou in 2014 - could be sacrificed in favour of the Frenchman.
Funnily enough, it’s Liverpool who are being linked with a return for the player by the same Spanish outlet.
Suarez, they say, is in no hurry to leave the Nou Camp, but the Spaniards know his value will start to decrease after this summer.
They believe that despite being 31, the Uruguayan would command a fee of around £60million this year.

Indeed, I suspect that fact that he is versatile and a good link player he probably is a Klopp player, who do you prefer Suarez or Klopp is a broader discussion I had no intention of instigating.

Anyone who thinks FSG have not done right by the club need their heads read. Look at the ground, the manager, the squad, the move from Melwood, the increase in revenue, the smart buying and selling policy etc. They have learned the hard way, but we were about to do a Leeds when they bought us.

And if we buy a player for £10 million and we get three seasons out of him and then sell him for £150 million that's fine too. If ANY player EVER wants to be somewhere else then he should be fucked off as soon as we have worked out what we will do without them.

I still don't think we can win the title under FSG, barring some kind of weird Leicester-type miracle.
Obviously us winning it wouldn't be anything like as miraculous, but the teams who have dominated the title over the last decade or two have been the ones with absurdly rich owners who don't give a fuck about a "sustainable business model" and just chuck a billion pounds at the problem.
We can't compete with oligarchs and we have even less hope of competing with entire countries full of Arab oil.
