The La Liga side, who sold the player to the Reds in 2013, are considering taking him back to Spain following his impressive performances in 2015-16
EXCLUSIVE
Liverpool have been made aware of interest from Sevilla over re-signing midfielder Luis Alberto,
Goal understands.
The 23-year-old, who has reported to Melwood as the Reds get stuck into their pre-season preparations, was signed from the Europa League champions for £6.8 million in the summer of 2013.
With Jurgen Klopp looking to fortify his options in the centre of the park and with Alberto not fundamental to the manager’s plans for the position, an exit would suit all parties.
Formal talks have not yet materialised, but Liverpool would expect a fee upwards of £7m for the Sevilla academy graduate given his performances on loan at Deportivo last season, where he netted six times and registered eight assists in 31 appearances.
Their stance on the price is supported by several other clubs also being interested in acquiring Alberto, with Ligue 1's Nice in the running.
Sevilla paid £7m last summer to secure Steven N'Zonzi from Stoke, and it is understood the Reds will stand firm in fetching a figure that eclipses that.
Alberto is open to returning to the club that developed him, however the Spaniards are hoping there can be negotiations around the price tag.
He has made 12 appearances in total for Liverpool, and his contract expires in 2018.
Sevilla were also
weighing up whether to make a move for Joe Allen, who forms part of their list of midfield targets, but appreciate the competition to land the Wales international may be beyond them.
