Copa America 2016

Reports suggested Klopp was watching River Plate defender Gabriel Mercado, not Higuan. Something that was made a mockery of when it emerged Mexican club Monterrey already had an agreement with him. But now, Mercado has broken that, with Monterrey confirming such :

Gabriel Mercado broke, unilaterally, the agreement that existed between the player himself and our club.

According to the Argentine media, Liverpool made him break the agreement. It is reported River Plate had agreed a fee of around €2m for Mercado with Monterrey, and a similar fee is expected should Liverpool be also genuinely interested.

I've just googled him. His head is so big it looks like its been photoshopped onto him in each photo

Because they're offering a player as well

£12m or so offered. I'm not sure what the value of the Napoli player involved is, but if we want him it looks like we may have to towards £15m or more.

And Milan also interested according to the Echo.

A 29 year old who has never played in Europe? Highly doubt it...

I know that Barcelona signed a new mega bid sponsorship deal but they will at the same time get much less money from the TV deal. No more individual TV deal in Spain.

They also made Neymar the best paid player on the planet. Messi will probably be offered an even better one.

Maybe they will be forced to sell Suarez.
You could be onto something here; There's a story regarding repayment of government aubsidies by Madrid & Barca. They will indeed need the money.

Liverpool, Tottenham and Wolfsburg want to sign Hector. Köln would sell him for around €20m acc to Express. #LFC

Doubt Spurs are interested with Davies and Rose.

Not player related.

[article]Rodolf Borrell will make up part of Pep Guardiola's coaching staff at Manchester City after working as director of the club's academy for the last two seasons. Guardiola has made serveal changes to his staff, with Mikel Arteta also joining the set up in Manchester.

Txiki Begiristain, a key figure in Borrell's career, took him to City in 2014, giving him the task of developing and implementing new training methods at the club, which quickly showed results. The youth teams at City have stood out for their attacking style and their manner of playing, which in turn has led to good results. The differences could be seen this past season, with City winning various national titles, including the Under 18 Premier League, as well as several international tournaments.

Borrell's work has not gone unnoticed and both Guardiola and Begiristain have decided he should have a place on the first team's new project. Pep and Rodo know each other from their time at Barça together, when Begiristain was also at the Catalan club.

Up until this point, Borrell's professional career has been long and successful. He was a coach for 14 seasons (1995-2009) at Barça's academy - working with nearly all the age groups - where he won a number of titles and contributed to the development of players such as Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique and Cesc Fabregas when he coached the famous 1987 generation.

In July 2009 he moved to Liverpool (2009-2014) with Rafa Benitez and Pep Segura, where he trained the Under 18 team and then the reserve team, before taking over as director of the club's academy during his final season on Merseyside.

City have various young players who will be on the fringes of the first team in the coming seasons and with Rodolf Borrell forming part of Guardiola's team, these young players will encounter a familiar face when the doors open for them.
