According to Die Welt, Andre Schurrle's move from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea could be put off for a season ... again.

How good is Schurrle? Is he Reus good?

No ... I watched him against the US and he's technically sound like Reus, but doesn't have that extra gear which makes Reus so good. He's played more on the wing than up front (which is why I probably don't remember seeing him score much!)

Fenerbahçe have agreed terms with Zenit Saint Petersburg over Portuguese international defender Bruno Alves.

The Yellow Canaries released a statement on the Public Disclosure Forum (KAP) confirming the deal.

The statement read: "We have reached an agreement with Zenit Saint Petersburg over the player Bruno Alves. Talks with Alves over personal terms are ongoing."

The 31-year-old defender joined Zenit from Porto for €22 million in 2010 and went on to make 101 appearances for the Russian club.

Room for a return to his former club for Skrtel then?

Toulalan has signed for Atletico Madrid in a deal worth 5 million euros. Should add a lot of quality to the team if true.

SHOUTsport has said that Davide Astori will sign on Monday for Southampton from Cagliari. Italian International CB, yes please.

Higuain - sweepstakes include Juve, Arsenal and now as per Marca, City and Chelsea.

Portuguese paper A Bola report today that Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay.

According to AS, returning Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will not stand in the way of David Luiz leaving Stamford Bridge for a big money move to Barcelona.

Babel is apparently on his way to Turkey's Kasımpasa, who are managed by former Ajax, Rangers striker Shota Arveladze.

Michael Laudrup could leave Swansea City as soon as next week over the transfer dispute that has pushed his relationship with chairman Huw Jenkins to breaking point.

The Dane is understood to have had only one conversation with his employer in the past fortnight and sources close to the 48-year-old have indicated that unless he quickly receives assurances of the significant financial backing he claims he was promised then he will make a decision on his future in the coming days.

Matters are expected to come to a head when Jenkins returns from his holiday in Portugal, though hopes are fading at Swansea of a resolution.

Dejan Lovren, linked with Liverpool: "Each player wants to join a big club. I am under contract until 2016, but anything can happen. Anyway, I am in no rush to leave Lyon,"

Benni McCarthy retired - small news, and not relevant to any thread (or worthy of another thread), so will post here ... He was my favorite non-Liverpool player as a kid ... I thought he was going to be phenomenal ... Was one of the best South Africans ever -
