Ngoo :Untried so a massive risk
Gerrard : Looks lazy at the minute and is out of form
Sterling: Lightweight and is quite wasteful...then we have the problem of who do we play on the wing
Suso: Not been particularly clinical, work rate is very questionable
Cole: Looks past it and a good showing in the EL won't convince me. Think he'd get a lot of stick at west ham and it'd affect him too
Sinclair: Hes barely played a competitive game for us, let alone in the PL. And he's about 10
Morgan: Looks out of his depth at EL level, clinical, but i think it'd be a leap too high for him this soon
Yesil: Still adapting to EL level, let alone PL level
Pacheco: Completely unconvincing above reseve level

Our options are shocking so i'd rather pick a player who has shown that he knows where the net is and is willing to actively try to score.

I don't think people are advocating Jonjo on the basis of last Saturday's form. He was awful!

I didn't see the match, by the sounds of it he was awful, but at least he was in the highlight reel with a chance

I'd rather a player play who weekly would be involved in the highlights than a player who ambles around and is "tidy"

So you'd drop Lucas?

Lucas is not a player who ambles around, and you're quite clearly a MASSIVE mental if you think thats all he does

Lucas is a player who breaks up the opposition play better than 90% of our squad. His passing is very accomplished too and knows how to bring the ball out of the defence

Clearly i'm going to have to stop talking with you as you have some kind of weird agenda. All i've done is suggested the player who a)has scored this season, and b)has been trialled in that role this season

Stop feeding the troll!

I'd be very excited at the prospect of Ngoo leading our front line.

Liked what I've seen of him so far, awkward in movement at times but looks pacy enough, with accomplished technique, powerful and a bit of a goal instict too. Would thrive from Enriques and Magic's crosses too due to his height and strengths.

I wouldn't pick Shelvey for the top spot myself although I do agree he's probably a better choice than most on that list. Yesil and Morgan are ruled out for me as they've looked too light-weight and Cole and Suso are not ever going to be utilized with success on top imo.

Gerrard, perhaps, whilst I believe Sterling would make more sense out wide, so I say give the big Ngoo lad a go.

The real Ngooal!

The thing with Ngoo is that you need to make sure there are a couple of teammates buzzing around him both to create space and feed off any flicks. If, say, Shelvey, Sterling, Gerrard and Suso push up, make more runs into the area and keep providing support, Ngoo might be effective. It would just be unfair if he's left isolated up front as the step up in quality as far as defending is concerned will leave him frustrated and he'll get undeserved flak.

So on one hand you're saying we should be playing players who are on the 'highlight reel' even though they've not scored in all 11 premier league games they've played. But you're also advocating playing Lucas who has never made a highlight reel in his life. Consistent.
Considering you didn't watch the last game either, I can only presume you're making this call blind on the basis you must be a big Shelvey fanboy. If you'd seen any of his performances since coming back from his ban, I'm not sure on what grounds you'd want him on the pitch, let alone upfront. He's done sweet fuck all to warrant it.

Lucas should play, Shelvey, should fucking not. Lucas does the job he's employed to do, well. Shelvey, currently, does not.

Shelvey is never going to play for any length of time as a striker for any club, he's a midfielder. So we might aswell play someone in the squad that is meant to be a forward, in that forward's position. We're not fucking spain.

If you think this is trolling or being thick, then you've got issues. I can't make it any simpler for you.

K, lucas isn't on a highlight reel because generally defenders don't get the credit they deserve. Attacking wise, players deserve to be on the highlight real.

Jonjo is generally on them.

And who would you like to play then in the forwards role? out of our wealth of options of players who have kicked a ball in the premier league? Which one of our 18 year olds would you like to see play against big sams defences?

Are you still cheating at Words With Friends whenever you fancy a break from talking bollocks on here?

In all honesty, we're pretty knackered, so it's damage limitation whoever plays upfront this weekend. We could do with a fluke goal from a set piece and then hangon to the lead.
I'd go for ngoo or morgan, not been too impressed of yessil yet. But either of those two are going to massively struggle if we played them, against a couple of big centre backs.

I think he'll play your favourite in all honesty, I wouldn't, but think he will. I just don't think he offers anything as a striker, as of late he's not offered anything in his own role.

We knew this day would come where we had fuck all strikers, thankfully, at the moment, it's one game. Lets hope he gets given the funds to sort it next month.

I presume you don't like being confronted by how truly thick you really are.

Only because nobody would.

I absolutely loathe confrontation, you've got me. How fucking embarrassed am I.

You going to contribute to this thread, or stalk me? You'd probably be better off with the latter considering - 'If nothing else if we play Ngoo it'd be good for a laugh'

I'd like to see Gerrard pushed further forward. He's a good finisher and right now I think would find things easier in an area of the pitch where he's expected to be more ambitious in his play.

Except Gerrard isn't in the squad, is he? It was announced earlier today he's out with a stomach bug.

Edit: Yes, from the offal:

Brendan Rodgers explained how the decision to omit Steven Gerrard, Daniel Agger and Lucas Leiva from the squad that travelled to Udinese on Wednesday was a purely precautionary one.
rodgers263_50bf891a1b640892051522.jpg
Gerrard remained on Merseyside due to illness and Agger did not travel in order to give the Dane time to recuperate after a long run of games in the side.
Meanwhile Lucas was afforded a well-earned rest after making an impressive return from injury against Southampton on Saturday.
And while the manager admitted the trio will be missed when the Reds go in search of a vital victory on Thursday night, he has backed Luis Suarez to shine in Italy and fire the Reds into the knockout stages of the Europa League.
"Steven has been ill for the last couple of days," explained Rodgers. "He only really started to jog around on the field this morning.
"To not have Steven here certainly weakens the squad because he is a world-class player. So it's unfortunate that he is ill but it was just too much of a risk for him to travel and then not be available to play.
"We have been managing Agger throughout the games [this season] so that he is at his optimum level for every performance.
"Likewise with Lucas - he's just come back from a long-term injury. He did fantastic at the weekend but it's too early for him to play two games in one week. The three will come back into the squad for Sunday's game. But we're still strong. We've come out here to win the game.
"What's important about Liverpool is the collective. We don't rely on one player, it is about the team and that's what we'll rely on tomorrow night."

Hey we are talking about the West Ham game in here Macca.
Feck off to the Udinese thread with your Gerrard not playing chat 😉

He's not in the squad for the Udinese game according to the other thread but I'm presuming it's not an issue anyway as Suarez is available.

If Gerrard doesn't recover in time for the weekend I'd be intrigued to see Ngoo. He will at least provide a physical presence for the West Ham defenders to contend with and will be eager to please.

Suso is the closest thing to Suarez in his ability to make fools out of their bronze aged defence. Ngoo would just look as though he is performing a useful role when in reality the defence will have him under total control. To get Suso in the team it means Gerrard gets pushed forward which is also excellent.

Then Gerrard will be that fucking good playing in a free role, Suarez will have to come back as a wide foward alongside sterling and at long last our team will finally be perfect.

As I said before, that depends on whether he's properly supported or just abandoned up there on his own.
