Sturridge

then we're back to square one with suarez being moved to the wing or changing our set up as llorente can't do a job on the wing

Llorente is no mere battering-ram. He and Suarez dovetailing in and around the centre, with Sterling and others popping up on the wings, would do very nicely.

Oh i know he's technically fantastic and i would love to have him, but we need to think about the team

We've JUST started playing like we're used to the formation, but we might have to change it up to accomodate llorente. Either losing suarez in a more central area, or changing our entire system, as llorente won't be as comfortable on the wings as a sturridge or walcott

-------------------llorente---------------------
Suarez---------------------------sterling

or

---------suarez----------------llorente
----------------------gerrard
Enrqiue------------------------------------sterling
------------------------lucas

was watching this little youtube of sturridge vs the mancs and just confirms my own opinion of him. Don't know why we are willing to spend the cash on him.

YouTube is never reliable, even if it showing the player in a good light. Djib Cisse, Mark Gonzalez and others had amazing YouTube videos.

What about

-------------------llorente---------------------
Assaidi------------Suarez-----------sterling

-----Lucas/ Allen------Gerrard/Hendo

type thing. Looks pretty fucking tasty to me.

This is our problem. What does our new addition need to be? He needs to be able to replace Suarez if Luis is injured/suspended. He needs to be able to come in and make an immediate improvement to the team *with* Suarez. He needs to be a goalscorer. BUT. He needs to not change Suarez' current role as central striker, because Suarez is so good there. Oh....and he can't cost a lot of money, because we don't have any.

Certainly is tasty, but Allen isn't the greatest as a dm, so that means lucas is a guaranteed starter.

Also, Gerrard struggle to assert himself from that deep, meaning that we either drop him, or move him further upfield, which will then impact he squad

It's a political powder keg this move

Sign Dirk back?

SG could play on the right of the three- something BR has said he sees as a position he'd like SG in. Having a quality striker is a problem we desperately need right now.

It's a good idea to but considering for years Gerrard said he didn't want to play on the right, why now (when his legs have gone) would it work?

And why hasn't rodgers done it already? We've had the playing squad, he's just preferred to but Enrique left wing instead.

I think perhaps rodgers might have seen that Gerrard on the right won't work like it used to.

CM should be covering more ground than AM. In theory he'd have more in the tank to attack, and might even be able to ignite the turbo charger now and again. SG himself said a few years ago that he was wrong to get hung up on playing in CM. He said he'd play anywhere.

I don't know why we have to sign players to play such specific roles, or with specific roles/formations in mind.
We should just focus on signing quality players and play them.
Quality defenders will defend well and quality goal scorers will score goals.

True, but when I have seen him for full 90 mins he hasn't impressed me. He really is quite average. An English Dempsey.

Dnt get me wrong, i'd love llorente, he's masterful

Just concerned that the signing could destabilise the team

Did well initially when he returned to Chelsea too. When given the chance up to Christmas, he had 10 goals and 3 assists in the 19 games he played in, across all competitions. Fell into a slump after that and scored and assisted only once each in the 15 games he played in up till mid-March. His minutes fell off a cliff after that; his minutes have totally caved this season.

I think there's a good player in there given what he's done at Bolton and in the first half of last season's campaign. Whether he lands here or not, he does need to get out of Chelsea if he fancies a proper career with playing time going forward.
Like any player he needs to be picked regularly

Who was the last British player bought for around £15m who was actually any good in the PL?

He was good for Swansea in the PL. That answers the question you asked.

True. I asked a poor question. I meant... oh, never mind, we all know British players are massively overpriced so if we buy one we paid too much. Also, if there was a genuine British star of the Gerrard/Owen class ready to break into a PL first team somewhere he wouldn't sign for mid-table fodder like us.
