Sergio Ramos

Yes, thundercunt of a player.

My question is more to see if I'm just a biased knob or not.

I see him often in "the best 11 of all time" teams, Maldini and Ramos.

I don't see him being better than Baresi or Nesta in their pomps. Heck, when it's all said and done, VvD will be ahead of him too.

Am I the only one who doesn't see him in the top top echelon of defenders?

I know a thing or two about being top, top of a few things, like investments.

But I haven't seen enough of him to say for sure. At the same time, he won a lot of stuff and I probably didn't notice him much because he was always in offensive teams.

How many times has he been sent off? Something like 26 or something like that? There's no way you can be in the best of anything (bar dirty tackles, most sendings off and biggest cuntish player ever) if you need to rely on dirty play - and those are just the times he was sent off, we know there were many many more that would have been justified.

World cup winner, Euro winner twice, multiple CL winner...
I'm not in favour of it, but I get it.

He was excellent, but I agree. Others were, and are better. His trophy cabinet and longevity is what's put him there I think

Longevity is great, but if you have a game to win and you need the best two CBs, I'm not picking him.
I'd take 2 of the 4 I mentioned in the opening post.

I actually think he's in this discussion because he played for Real Madrid for 16 years.
A very good player but shouldn't be anywhere near this GOAT talk in regards to defenders.

An absolute thundercunt.

Equally that's why people pick hazard over Salah. In a one off game, "prime" whatever, people pick the person who had a higher peak.

It's why I never like "best ever xi" lists. Like, are we just going off their best, or how long their period lasted.

Ramos wouldn't be on mine for one off games, but arguably he would be if I'm planning over a 5 year cycle. There's not many with a trophy cabinet as vast as his

He's almost certainly in and around the top 5 ever.

Throw Moore and Beckenbauer in there with Baresi and Maldini and that's probably it.

Was he a shithouse cunt every chance he got? Absolutely. Should that cloud people's judgements over his tenure as a legendary figure? .....No.

Hold up - who on earth think Hazard peak was as good as Salah's?

Now obviously I've no right to comment as I'm nowhere near old enough...but is moore genuinely top 5?

A lot of online people. They're wrong of course, as they often talk about "eye test" rather than actual results on the pitch

Hazard is the ultimate "streets won't forget" player, whereas Salah is a bonafide pl legend.

He was a great player and I get why Real / Spanish fans would think of him but yeah, he wouldn't make my all time XI.

The number of goals he scored for Real is nuts though.

Hazard is a bit better than a "streets won't forget" player but he's nowhere near Mo, mostly because he's also a "McDonald's won't forget" player, too.

Don't think as a Footballer he should be in any top 5 or 10 list. He was a dirty fecker, and that worked well for him, but the best defenders for me are those that can defend brilliantly, and offer something more to the team

I can't cite defenders from the 90s but since then who is he up against from 2000 onwards? Cannavaro, Puyol, Terry, Ferdinand? He can't be far off especially if we base it partly on trophies won

Unless the team is 'All-Time Cunt 11', he's nowhere near an 'All-Time best' list... Very, very good, of course, but never in an all-time conversation.
