Strikers we could get now

Portly could sing that Lady Gaga song if Del Piero signed.

Don't call my name, don't call my name Alessandro....

Del Piero would be amazing. He's obviously past it but what a pedigree. Would do some of the younger players wonders having a year to learn from him.

Heard some interesting Liverpool news. They're currently in talks with a striker. Not a former Liverpool player. World & CPL winner #fact

That cnut blocked me for calling him a clueless numpty...

Collymore's been dropping hints on twitter that Del Piero fancies the move, for whatever that's worth

*shrugs*

Del Piero wouldn't make me want to vomit in my own mouth when he touched the ball as well. He's is 37 though and the pressing game Rodgers plays is very physically intense

Yeah, that would be a worry. But anyone brought in will be an impact player though, if not any injuries occur obvs.

He would be scoring goals from Suarez's openings like a greedy Italian polishing off bowls of spaghetti and meat balls being brought to him by his 75 year old mama.

Does anyone really think that John Henry is now going to sanction signing an expensive (probably) short term 'fix' after writing an open letter to the fans saying ruling out exactly that kind of thing?

"Our ambitions do not lie in cementing a mid-table place with expensive, short-term quick fixes that will only contribute for a couple of years"

I can't see the Greeks offering huge wages so i doubt he'd be massively expensive.

* orders Del Piero 9 shirt*

*cancels order*

*orders Del Piero 10 shirt*

Hope Cole loses his number

Ha!

As for high wages, I doubt that would be a deal breaker. He'd jump at a chance to play a few games in the Premier League.

Del Piero still wouldn't be the answer to our problems though. I don't ever remember him being the sort of player that was always in the box to head/poke it in. That is what we are missing IMO, not another player to linger outside of the box when we need someone attacking the 6 yard box.

No I think Vlad meant did you read Piedro's post right? Cause you seem not to....
You know this isn't really worth explaining...

I read it right ... He says he thinks newbies are getting a right kicking lately. I didn't agree, though I don't lately with Pete due to my (supposed) specs. I was mentioning that some of our older posters have been utter dicks lately - and that's been far more tiresome than his perception during while he (unfortunately not as often as back in the day) posts

So you have to have a right level of experience to play at a big club? Really think about this before replying.

Apologies for the late reply - but was on the train back home (you know when I post from the train - all my posts are in lower case).

I said he 'had' not that you have to have the experience to play at a big club. But you raise an interesting point - when I think back to those players we have bought from big clubs they do play in a way that is not hindered by the expectations of our club. Raul came from Porto which is probably the biggest club in Portugal (don't really know how it compares to Benfica) - and during his time here I think he played at the same level of performance and had good movement and was not fazed by the size of our club. I think he was 28 when we sold him - ok we got good money, but he still has quite a few good years left in him. To have replaced him with Henderson who is hardly noticed on the pitch when he does play was just another bad decision by Kenny. We don't even need football as an example of this type of thing - many of us on this site who work in a team environment have probably experienced a situation when a decent member of the workforce moves on and is replaced by someone who is seroiusly incompetent - it can sometimes bring down the whole team or create stress for members to fill in that gaping hole. I say all of this not being a big supporter of Raul.

Anyway to get back to the main topic - I read from this site that we are now potentially looking at Del boy, fuck me !!! 37 year old ? - this just gets worse.
