Kenny Dalglish is hopeful Jay Spearing isn't facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being forced from the field during Liverpool's 1-0 Carling Cup semi-final, first-leg win over Manchester City on Wednesday night.

The midfielder pulled up sharply midway through the first half after playing a pass and was promptly replaced by Charlie Adam.

Dalglish confirmed Spearing was suffering from a tight hamstring, but he's optimistic it's not too serious.

The boss told reporters: "It was his hamstring, but it wasn't too bad. It just went a bit tight on him. I don't think he has pulled anything, but we'll have to wait until the morning when he gets back (to Melwood)."

Indeed, Henderson has benefited hugely from Gerrard being around!

Kenny seems to be playing 2 centre mid's with 'legs' to do the running and gerrard or adam, he clearly doesn't fancy a 442 at all without lucas. Shelvey is probably in there with gerrard and adam because he doesn't seem to have enough defensive discipline at the moment. That leaves gerrard and henderson +1.

I like charlie but I'd go with jonjo based on form. After the last match god knows what the formation will be.

Anyone else worried about Gerrard and/or Bellamy being rested?

I know Gerrard's not long back from injury and there's question marks over whether Bellamy can start matches every 3 days or so, but where's our pace and movement going to come from if they're not in the side ???

Maxi will surely start. I'm getting increasingly pissed off with Stewart bloody Downing starting ahead of the little Argie, it's fucking mind boggling.
