Are we all happy for him to keep his place regardless of who comes in Janurary?

He's been 1 of the brightest spots this year so far however a handful of assists and 1 goal is probably not enough for a 1/3 of our main attacking threat.

Now before anyone jumps down my throat this isn;t a Sterling is shit we should drop him thread.

He's young and in his first season and even the likes of Ronaldo took a 2/3 seasons to get going before he really starting banging in goals.

However at the moment we need more goals from midfield and Sterling is probably the only player to have played almost every game with only 1 goal to show for it. (Gerrard was as bad but has found his shooting and assists boats of late)

Everyone else has either played deeper or been rotated to often to be critical of their goal return,

So the question is dependant on who comes in should Sterling remain 1 of the first names on the sheet like Suarez or should he be pulled back a bit from the hustle and bustle of playing 90 mins game in game out

it will be interesting to see how he develops long term , i mean if we stick with 4-3-3 then we'll need him (or whoever is in the front 3 ) to contribute goals . If he was a winger in a 4-4-2 or similar we probably wouldn't need him to score as much . Right now he doesn't provide much goal threat at all but like mentioned , that will hopefully develop in time .

Anyway i wouldn't be too against reducing his role if someone decent comes in , although obviously a balance needs to be found that doesn't stiffle his potential.

I don't think he's done enough of late to warrant a place in the starting line up, imo he needs to start chipping in with more goals, maybe he needs a rest
, I'm not sure but if we can get a couple of extra frontmen then that may ease the burden on him and allow us to rotate

A spell on the bench will do the lad good. More goals and assists needed from his position in the team.

The question is what Rodgers will do once Borini is fit.
Suarez 100% starts, you'd imagine Sturridge is also nailed down to start. So only on spot left, and Rodgers did fork out a fair bit of money when it comes to Borini, he already knows what he brings (we don't), so I can see him starting a lot of games.
But I think the odd game to start, with the majority of playing time as a super sub will be beneficial for Sterling, at least for the rest of the season.
He has his moments but has not really performed to the level he set early on in the season, and him being one of the only starting options in attack is putting a lot of pressure on him to perform. It's being a detriment to him. He sees his fellow attacking partner taking on whole teams on his own, and he seems to be trying to replicate that recently, without understanding that the other player in question happens to be one of the finest in the world.

We've got so few attacking options that there will always be opportunities for Borini.

As for Sterling, he shouldn't be playing more than one game a week, IMO, even that is pushing it.

I'd forgotten about Borini!! When is he fit again does anyone know?

For me, he's got fuck all end product (assists/goals) at the moment, so ideally I'd like to see him used from the bench. But, as we've nothing else, I think he'll be a first team starter for the rest of the season regardless of who comes in. It'll be Suarez, Sturridge and him. And then if we bring in anyone else, e.g Ince etc, he'll be used now and then to give Sterling a rest. I really do not see Sterling going back to the bench this season, regardless of end product. Too much hype.

More goals and assists are needed from every position in the team though, not just his, he's doing more in games than most even if he has gone off the boil a bit of late. It comes to something when our defenders have more between them than most of our midfield.

He's a chav (appaz) with a bad attitude (more appazzing) it was always going to happen.

Great to see the wee man on the scoresheet again.

Very similar to the Reading goal earlier in the season.

Great goal tonight but apart from that he didn't do much.
I thought he was better tonight than he has been of late.
Not as good as some of his performances from earlier in the season but that may have something to do with the fact that he has less space and time now as opposing defenses seem to double up on him.

I thought everyone played well but if I was being ultra picky, Sterling and Wisdom weren't quite at the same level as the others.

Raheem Sterling was not present at the hearing
Premier League footballer Raheem Sterling has been charged with assaulting a woman.
The 18-year-old Liverpool and England winger from Woolton, Liverpool, was summonsed to Liverpool Youth Court on a charge of common assault.
Police said a 27-year-old suffered "slight" facial injuries in an alleged incident in Toxteth on 2 November.
Mr Sterling did not attend the hearing but his solicitor said he denies the allegation.
He said the alleged offence took place when the footballer was 17 but, as he turned 18 in December, the matter should be transferred to the adult courts.
Solicitor Mick Hogan said: "I do have instructions to the effect that Mr Sterling will be pleading not guilty to this charge.
"He is aware of today's hearing and the club are very supportive."
The move to the adult courts was supported by the prosecution and Chairman of the Bench Brian Upton adjourned the matter to Liverpool Magistrates' Court on 22 February.
Sterling made his senior international debut for England last November against Sweden.
