Sterling to Tell Rodgers he wants to leave this summer

Of course I'd rather keep him than lose him, I just think he's bang out of order. He's publically setting down the gauntlet. The manager or me. You're not that important Raheem. Unfortunately for both sides there's no going back now.

Funny the little shithouse didn't do this before the last home game.

Meh. Fuck him. If he goes we get a good fee (though we'll probably spend it on signing half of Crystal Palace) and we're shut of a massive bell end. If he stays we keep a good player. Not arsed. Flip a coin.

Put him in the company of Aguero, Silva, and Toure - we are going to see the Sterling of last year.

If we were linked with a 20 year old with that highlight reel, we would all be salivating at the prospect.

It is one thing loosing world class stars like Suarez because they don't have the patience to stay here for an extra year. As bad as a tit Sterling has been, whole new ball game when we lose a potential world class young star like Sterling. Saga feels a lot similar to Everton loosing Rooney.

We hold him to his contract, bench him and all of that's gone. He misses out on 2 important years of development, no Euros, and then maybe Aidy Ward will have to consider whether his client will still have the same profile at the end of 2 years away from the spotlight and any meaningful player development.

Good luck ever signing a promising young star again. As much as people want to pretend we have all the cards, the eyes of the footballing world are firmly focused now. Treat him like shit and we'll have even fewer players ready to come.

He is not worth a 100K a week let alone 150K... fuck right off...

over-runs all the time, powder puff shooting, lack of goals... fuck off son...

That's pretty much bollox i'm sorry... he simply is not worth the money he is asking for... nothing to do with maltreatment. we don't have all the cards no club ever does as slavery has been abolished long ago however...

Sell the cunt IMO... we can do better...

Hopefully when he realises his ego is slowing him down it'll be too late...

This has to end. We have to stop pointing fingers at all players that want to leave (Gerrard, Torres, Mascherano, Alonso, Suarez, Sterling) and instead create a Place were players want to stay and exploit their talent and game.... Sterling is on his best Our best player, and even out of form top three depending on others dip in form. I can understand his frustration for swimming in jelly... But we need him to stay and fight to rebuild this Club properly. But that starts at the very top.

Also: Rodgers had better not play the little shit against Stoke.

Rodgers is an arse-licking twat and his low-towing to Sterling to try to get him to stay (sound-bites and refusing to substitute him when he was playing shite) has also, in all probability, affected our results.

Ha ha - I had to stop after 2.30 mins because it was really an endorsement of how not-superstar level he really is. Ibe is a far better player in many aspects of his game and I'm sure will be a better player. That video just highlighted how often Sterling fails to beat the defender and how poor his shooting is .. which we all know already.

Sterling was given every opportunity by Rodgers .. putting him up front, playing him for 90 mins, match in match out, no matter how poor of a game he was having, but all it demonstrated is that he really doesn't have a consistent end product. He may improve and this may just be a lack of maturity .. but I wouldn't bet on it and we have kids with just as equal talent on the ball such as Kent & Wilson just waiting for a chance.

There are plenty of other wing options out there that have as much or more influence on a game - I'm really regretting we didn't go after Shaqiri harder, he'd have been a much better player for us this season - and if we can get a big fee then we'll be better off than having a disaffected malcontent in the squad.

I think that's over-egging it a bit, but I'm totally in agreement that - in theory - he's very replaceable. There are plenty of equally good or better players out there we could get for similar or less money, as long as we show real ambition. The best I've seen is Felipe Anderson at Lazio, who we were linked with a while back. He's miles better Sterling, seriously. I'm not sure if we could persuade him to join - apparently the usual suspects are all after him, but what a coup if we could. Here's just a part of his highlights from this season:

I would never wish ill on anyone but in all honesty I hope he moves to Man City never plays and ends up at a team like West Brom. He is one of the luckiest boys in the world (yes he has worked hard and naturally has the talent) but needs a reality check and a lesson in humility and respect.

Looks good.
Sell the little shit, use all the money on this lad. And pay him 100,001 per week.

So, we fucked up signing Depay and now Sterling wants to leave. Ace. Good thing Bolasie is available for 60 mill £.

After yesterdays knee jerk response, I'd obviously like him to stay but at some point you cant be held ransom as a club.
I'd feel a lot more comfortable and confident if I knew we would spend the 50 mill well. We wont.

Big test for the club this. Sterlings agent should be kicked all over the place.

And that's part of the issue for me.

Who, of genuine world-class potential, can we persuade to join us? It’d soften the blow for me if I thought we could replace sterling with someone of equivalent talent, but we probably can’t. We’re fucking shit, we don’t challenge for anything, we don’t play in the Champions League, we don’t have any world class players to help attract promising youngsters, and we’ve shown over the last 3-4 years that we can’t convince top players to join us.

Given we have a potential star in Sterling, it makes sense to try and fucking keep him.

I hope he rots on the bench of a City of Chelsea

Promote Ibe as his replacement, and go after not one, but 2 quality strikers.

I think the simplest starting point would be to try and replace Rodgers with Klopp, or possibly De Boer. That instantly improves our standing.

Then I'd just try and show ambition in the market. We're still *relatively* attractive. Spurs in the past have signed guys of a similar level in Lamela and Modric. If it's really come to the point where we can't get decent players in, then Sterling will certainly leave in a year or two anyway - probably before he becomes truly effective. We might as well try to reverse course with the bigger fee we'd get now.

Just my take.

Only sell him if we can include Glen Johnson in a 2-for-1 package - "Buy one wanker, get one shit cunt free"

Every interesting tbh. A man in the know saying it's not aidy ward pushing for it

Just as an aside, Gerrard was giving every player an embrace after the game, he barely looked at Sterling and just about shook his hand.

I tend to agree with Ryan anyway, as much as Sterling is a cunt, we need to keep hold of him, it sends out all the wrong signals if we sell.

As much as his attitude stinks at present.

Selling our top performer over the season with little to no chance of replacing him is folly.

Tell him hes going nowhere and plough some money into a decent player or two.

That makes sense.

It would be interesting to know the real reasons for him wanting put

After giving it thought.. I agree with @Ryan..

The club have to treat this in the same way they treated the Suarez Speculation. They will not sell.. They will dictate the rules.. We cannot be seen to be weak or cannon fodder..

I think he will sign once a new manager is in place anyway..

In principle I agree with hardballing this, but it wouldn't be a risk-free strategy. Sterling is immature enough, self-absorbed enough (two sides of the same coin really) and, last but not least, stupid enough to let his performance levels drop if we do that, especially if the little sh!tbag thinks it'll force the club to lower any eventual fee.
