Sterling to Tell Rodgers he wants to leave this summer

I really really hope there is some proof that Ward said this so he can be shown to be the lying unscrupulous scum he clearly is.

Imagine having the same agent as Peter Odemwingie, that's like watching a builder construct a house that falls over then hiring him.

Just a quick question. Can Sterling buy out his contract or was that a load of crap?

He can once he's three years into the present contract. Although I'd be amazed if he did that because we would surely litigate well beyond CAS

Talk sport said that ward guy would be pursuing legal action about those quotes he's denying.

Bet that never happens

The courts are still busy with Big Sams case against the BBC, once that's over I'm sure this case will follow

But he has to pay the full remainder of his contract up front right Rosco? So that's £3m ?can't see him or his agent being the thrifty little savers and stumping it up in one lump sum? And we won't accept a payment plan

What's he called his agency 'The Greedy Spoiled Twat Talent Agency' . Motto being - Getting our clients everything they don't deserve, Haven't merited and pissing off everyone that has helped them in the process.

Yeah something like that.

But there's also the possibility that the player can be banned for 4-6 months for terminating the contract and if a club signs them they're presumed to have induced the breach. They can then be banned from transfers for a year.

So it's not that attractive an option for anyone - so arguably Fifa did something right for a change following EU meddling

The Odemwingie fiasco with QPR was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. This guy is a the cuntiest, most disrespectful agent around and that's quite an achievement.

As others have suggested, let's see whether he carries out his threat to take legal action over these quotes. A pound to a penny says it'll never happen and folk will draw their own conclusions from that. It'll be a re-run of O.J.Simpson's vow to "find the real murderer".

Ward has come out & denied the comments in the standard.

Now I know papers make stuff up from time to time, but there's no way at all I can imagine a paper faking a quote, & not just any quote, but one as stupid as that.

If they wanted to do so they could have said 'is believed to have said..' or anything along those lines.

Maybe Graham Taylor made it up. This guy is so thick he'd dig his own grave even when he's going to be cremated. As, in a way, he is doing, and he will be.

Aidy Ward 'comments' Q&A: James Pearce answers questions on Raheem Sterling's agent

Our Liverpool FC reporter answers questions from fans after apparent outburst by Sterling's representative

Here is the full Q&A with our Liverpool FC reporter James Pearce which took place after alleged comments from Raheem Sterling's agent Aidy Ward.

In an interview published in the London Evening Standard, Sterling's representative reportedly claims the forward "definitely" won't sign a new contract with the club, and that Manchester City and Chelsea are interested.

Ward, who is reported to have denied the comments to a number of media outlets, has also been quoted as saying he doesn't care about Liverpool and, in a remarkable attack on a number of the club's former players, labels Reds legend Jamie Carragher a “kn*b”.

Here are James Pearce's thoughts:
"Carra will laugh it off"

Peter Smith: What do you think Carragher's reaction will be to these comments?
JP: I'm sure Carragher will just laugh it off. He will have been called far worse! I very much doubt whether he will get drawn into a war of words with someone like Aidy Ward.
Carragher was only saying what the majority of Liverpool fans were thinking when he criticised the way that Ward has handled Raheem Sterling. The truth from the Kop legend clearly hurt an agent who has done his client no favours with this apparent outburst.

"Plenty to discuss"

Paul Hughes: Will Liverpool still want to sit down with Aidy Ward and Raheem Sterling tomorrow after they see what he has said?
I've spoken to Liverpool since those comments went public and as it stands that meeting is still going ahead on Friday as planned. I'd be surprised if that changed. The two sides certainly have plenty to discuss.

"It's viable he stays for another year"

Johnny F: can you ask @jamespearce if it is viable that we could keep sterling for another season or keep him in reserves?
It's certainly viable that he stays for another year. The owners have made it clear that Sterling isn't for sale. They refused to be bullied when Suarez wanted to join Arsenal in 2013 and it will be the same again.
Sterling has two years left on his current deal and Liverpool don't feel under any pressure to sell.
That resolve will only be tested if there's an offer in excess of £45m/£50m. I'd be surprised if there was.

"Sterling will only leave on Liverpool's terms"

Stephen Sandhu: Q for James. You think the owners would rather keep sterling for 2 years on 35k than let him join a PL rival this/next summer?
Yes, they would. They have made it clear previously they don't want to sell to Premier League rivals.
Every week since October that Sterling has stayed on £35k per week, Liverpool have essentially been saving themselves £65k per week.
They could keep doing that for the next two years and then get a compensation fee when his current deal expires.
I don't believe it will come to that but Sterling will only leave this summer or next summer on Liverpool's terms.

"I don't think the comments change anything"

Bence Patkovic: after the comments, what's better. Sell stering now, or keep for another year and sell then? Also, EPL or abroad?
"I don't think the apparent comments from Ward change anything.
"Maybe he thinks he can make Sterling's position untenable but Liverpool FC won't see it like that.
"There's always a way back. Suarez in 2013 is proof of that. He basically called Rodgers a liar in the press and then knuckled down, signed a new deal and produced the season of his life.
"In answer to your final question, if Sterling did go, LFC would clearly rather he went abroad. But I just don't buy the idea that Real Madrid want him. He's just not at that level."

"Sterling is good but not irreplaceable"

AJK: Do you agree that #lfc should now make this a stand against wantaway players/agents, even if it meant possibly losing money?
It's a difficult situation. Liverpool FC know that image wise it would be a disaster to lose Sterling this summer.
Losing Suarez was one thing but not being able to keep hold of a 20-year-old rookie still learning his trade would look terrible.
I can understand when fans say Liverpool should make him stay whatever and make that stand against player power and agents.
However, in reality, I think you have to see how the summer pans out.
If Man City really are prepared to pay £50m for him I'd be seriously tempted to take it. Sterling is good but he's not irreplaceable.
Obviously, if he does go, the preference would be a big money offer from abroad but I don't see that happening.

"Aidy Ward may think he holds all the aces but in reality he doesn't"

Johnny F: what sort of fee realistically would we be looking for Raheem?
Thanks for your question Johnny. It would have to be around the £45m/£50m mark for Liverpool to even consider it.
Aidy Ward may think he holds all the aces but in reality he doesn't.
Sterling can put in a transfer request and he can go on strike, but he won't leave Liverpool unless there's a bid on the table the club believe reflects his value.
If you ask me, I don't think he's worth that kind of money. I'd say nearer £30m.

"Sterling's head has been turned by interest from elsewhere"

Apurv Sardeshmukh: The fact remains that LFC have been poor in concluding contract discussions with many players..what is the problem?
I agree with you Apurv that Liverpool have been too slow to sort out a number of contracts previously and that creates uncertainty. But let's not forget, Sterling still has over two years left on his current deal.
They started talks with him over a new contract back in September/October time.
Maybe if they had done it last summer it would have got concluded then.
But the fact is that over the course of the season Sterling's head has been turned by interest from elsewhere.
The deal which has been on the table for months – a five-year deal on £100k per week – is a fair one.

"It's easy to point the finger at Ward - Sterling isn't blameless"

Emily Gale: Do you think @sterling31 is being moulded by Ward, into a money grabbing, ungrateful and overrated player, or is he just that?
That's a very good question Emily.
It's easy to point the finger of blame at Ward and I've certainly been very critical of him in the past because I think Sterling has been badly advised.
Much of the negativity that surrounds this saga - all the leaks to the press and that misguided interview with the BBC - from come from inside his camp.
However, Sterling isn't blameless. After all, an agent is merely there to represent his client and do what he asks him to do.
Sterling wants to leave Liverpool and join a rival Premier League club. That's his wish, not Ward's.

Looks like the only two outcomes now are that he leaves, or he gets a new agent. This Aidy Ward character is making a fool out of Sterling.

In hindsight we should have paid him more from last summer when we had the money from Suarez. I reckon he's just bitter about that.

I've gone from not really caring either way to wanting him to stay. I'd prefer if we bought a top striker in the oncoming weeks to steady the ship and make us an attractive proposition instead of having all this money and no one to buy. I believe he's one of these players that will develop synergisitc benefits if he had someone to bounce off or work in tandem with, and let's be honest, Balotelli, Borini, or Lambert aren't going to drive you. They should be inspiring him, not the other way round. At times our attacking play has been on par with Father Ted's Over 75 Indoor team. Looking at it from Sterling's point of view, he doesn't want to be the best forward in the team just yet, he desires to learn and develop and the aforementioned players will only stifle his progress, if anything. There's no excusing his (lack of) performances over the past few months, nor his media interviews at convenient times during the season, nor his agent. On his own he's a good player but with a Suarez or a fully fit Sturridge, he's excellent. We need more nimble, cocky feckers that defenders will hate playing against instead of hardworking average Joe's.

This has gone beyond money, let the wee prick rot in the reserves.

I genuinely hope we hold him to his contract and put him in the reserves for 2 years

That's two mentions of that in the same page, and I've seen this mentioned a few times before in the past few days too.

What have the reserves done to deserve this? Why would you want to put a rotten apple into the cart and spoil the rest?

Just let him train alone by himself. Or he can have Aidy Ward train him.

I'd also take it a step further and warn Ojo from linking up with Aidy Ward if he's looking for an agent.

Yeah something like that.

But there's also the possibility that the player can be banned for 4-6 months for terminating the contract and if a club signs them they're presumed to have induced the breach. They can then be banned from transfers for a year.

Wasn't there reports that United were to give money to Herrara to buy out his own contract?

Has any one bought out their own contract before?

In the Premier League, only one I know of is Jonas Gutierrez. The ruling was named after some Webster guy who joined Wigan (and rarely played).

Any club ought to be ashamed to want to deal with this git, and the likes of Wenger and others ought to be alarmed at the stupidity of the player. He's already put his house up for sale, weeks before talks were supposed to start, and his attitude stinks. As a manager you'd have to think a player was Suarez-like in terms of ability to want to risk taking on such trouble.

Well done to Hodgson, telling people to lay off Sterling. He's changed his tune, the hypocritical twat, seeing as he was only too keen to hang the player out to dry a few months ago.

I'd imagine any discussions are going to be pretty short now.

Liverpool just need to hear him out politely and then continue as normal.

If other clubs aren't smart enough to shun him, this will send out a message to all agents and would-be agents that anything goes. That's the enormity of the situation.

If he ends up moving Sterling from 35k to a 100k+, and to a club with a better chance of winning trophies, then why wouldn't they?

I think this might be a while off now. I can't see that Raheem and his agent have any cards to play and have to hope that another club make an offer too good to refuse. Even then the club may not want to deal with this agent.
