Sterling to Man City.. Maybe Arsenal..

I do find it amusing how quickly he's become a whipping boy for our poor form. Every time something doesn't quite come off, the "100k for that?!?!" quickly follows.

I actually thought he worked harder tonight, but he never seemed to believe when he got the ball that it would result in anything positive. He'd get it, do a few stepovers and feints and then resign himself to his fate.

Dont think Sterling was our biggest problem at all. At least he tried. There was zero movement infront of him and no plan whatsoever from his manager.

I hope he stays. We're going to need him.

Isn't that entirely fair enough?

I understand that the situation has provoked anger but the way it's manifesting I can't really get onboard with. The reality is that he is one of our best players and no amount of rewriting the script to suit is going to change that so it all just seems a bit pointless.

Reason why I can't see him staying is that our captain in waiting Jordan Henderson just signed a 100k p/w contract, there is absolute no chance that we will offer Sterling anything about that.

Having said that, if he does end up staying it's because:

1. We fail to secure high profile replacements and thus opt to pay him his ridiculous salary demands ...

2. Rodgers is sacked & Jurgen Klopp comes in and works his magic.

My money is on him being sold though as I don't see the above 2 occurring.

Klopp can work his magic with his tactics and team moral, but he's not going to have any baring on contract negotiations.
As is evident from every single one of his top players leaving his team over the years.

Why cant we offer him 100k a week? That offer has already been on the table for a while.
Johnson, Jones and Gerrard leaving this summer frees up about 250k a week in wages.
We can easily offer Sterling an 65k a week wage increase when Hendo got 40k.

I think he's implying we won't offer anyone more than our captain, but considering Sturridge is apparently already north of 100k, I doubt thats the case.

There is a correlation between our downturn in form ( home to Man U 22nd March ) and the press reports that the renegotiation of his contract had been ended by his agent ( 20th March ). It would seem this has had an affect on him, he is certainly not justifying a massive hike in his remuneration, but he is lowering his transfer fee.

Personally I'm surprised that a 19/20 year old with a bit of a questionable past in terms of behaviour is struggling under the crushing pressure of leading the dysfunctional attack of a club with top 4 ambitions on his own whilst his agent wrangles for more money behind the scenes.

Look at how Sterling started the season. Look at him (and the rest of the team) now. The confidence has gone.

He doesn't want 100k, he wants ALOT more.

  • Raheem Sterling kits out mansion with his own barber's shop and five-a-side pitch
The England starlet is sick of getting pestered for selfies so he's made his home "a fun place" in what has been called "the ultimate footballers' pad"

The place to be: Sterling's home features an indoor swimming pool and a barber's

Raheem Sterling may have snubbed a new £90,00-a-week Liverpool contract - but he's still flush enough to put a five-a-side pitch and hair salon in his mansion home.

The England winger has given a behind-the-scenes glimpse inside his palatial home which also features a basketball court, an indoor swimming pool, a gym and a bar.

The 20-year-old revealed he was getting so pestered for selfie snaps when he went out at night, that he splashed the cash to make home 'a fun place.'

The star, who's upset many Kop fans by turning down a huge pay increase at Anfield, regularly changes his hairstyle, and so built a self-purpose barbers to twiddle with his barnet whenever he wants.

The pad in Southport, Merseyside, has an entertainment room and a baby grand piano, along with a special wardrobe for his hordes of trainers.

Sterling, recently heckled at a Liverpool kit launch by a disgruntled supporter, told a magazine: "In the evenings I prefer to stay home.

"If I go out I'm always asked for selfies, so I've spent money making my house a fun place. I've got an indoor swimming pool, a half-basketball court, a games room and my own barber's area.

"My girlfriend usually cooks dinner and it will be something like barbecue ribs or chicken wings. Friends come round and we download movies or play Fifa.

"The best part of earning so much is spending it on my family. I bought my mum a beautiful house in Jamaica last year, and it was lovely to see her so excited."

A source said: "This is the ultimate footballers pad. It's got everything you could ever want, an more.

"Raheem prefers to spend time at home rather than going out so he thought he would spend his money on making it the best house imaginable.

"He likes to change his hair style regularly and likes to get it cut at home in privacy so the logical step was to install his own salon.

"It is a bit extravagant but he has got the money to do it and it makes him happy."

The good news is he doesn't appear to have a kitchen, so, as Ayre has promised, he'll remain hungry.

There's also the fact that he's never played this many first team games in a season before

It's encouraging - imagine the hassle of having to move your private barber's to another property. The kid will probably come to the conclusion that it ain't worth the trouble and stay put.

His agent has indicated 130k apparently. Thats not ALOT more imho when you see the other wages flying about.
We can offer that but if we will or should is another matter.

He shouldnt be on more than 100k a week but what can we do. We've made ourselves dependent on him and his agent knows this.

And his agent should also be aware that he's playing wank. He'd be in a much much stronger bargaining position if he was propelling us into 4th singlehandedly ala Suarez.

How are we dependent on him? He's been the best of a bad bunch but 130k pw could get you a real talent in the summer.

Stack his contract with reward clauses, that way he will earn top coin if he actually plays well ( I thought I'd heard we were already doing this, so he probably isn't keen on the concept of earning his payrise!)

We're dependent on him cause we've made him our key player.
He's played an insane amount of football this season for a kid of his age.

In my honest opinion we can also thank ourselves for being in this position.

So people believe the teams performance is based on Sterlings form alone, but dont believe he is worth the same as Sturridge as his form has dropped a little? Fuck me...
