Why on earth are people whinging about £45mill for raheem sterling? He wants out and won't change his mind. His agent will always cause grief. And we're getting a frankly ridiculous amount for a player who is nowhere near that amount.

It's ceased to be a sporting concern quite some time ago, it's a PR concern and I agree with Macca that we need to be seen to come out on top.

40 something plus add-ons makes us look like we've caved, 50M makes us look much better. Ridiculous but that's where its at.

I think 95% of other fans think anything like £50m for Sterling is daft money. Allied to the general opinion of him, I don't think there's much doubt that for now we'll be seen to be the winners of the whole sale process.

Whether he proves worth the fee, who knows right now.

It's a bit lose lose though, if he fails and City and City fail, we get nothing. If City win stuff then that means that we probably won't, but we'll get some monetary compensation for the pleasure.

Actually I see that as Win Win, if City/Sterling fail then we have a better shot at Top 4, if they/he perform well then we get compensated for it. Guess it must be the optimist in me.

We were wretched last season. The squad needed top tried and tested talent. Instead we've gambled yet again on promise, and we're selling one of our best players to a team that finished 17 points ahead of us. What do you want to do, pop open the champagne?

Winners?

We're having our prized asset ripped from us by a two bit agent and a club for whom money ultimately doesn't matter.

We are starting from a losers position and that's where we're going to finish up. The only question is whether we are going to get to lose with dignity.

If everyone has been banging on about 50M for the last few weeks, true or not, and it gets reported as less, true or not, it looks like every party involved has gotten their way apart from us.

It might end up looking like a good deal in the future much in the way Torres did but we're dealing in the here and now.

As for the general perception of his character, that won't last.

Winners in terms of the sales process. I was careful to stipulate that.

If you discount the effects of everything prior to it becoming clear that he was going, then yeah I think we look like the winners of the two parties.

Yeah, I don't see it that way.

fuck him, I wish him all the worst in a footballing sense

Less than a month to the start of the season, both sides needed to get this done. No point dragging out out until August when all the clubs we might want to buy from are pulling the shutters down and pushing prices up.

Yeah, I don't see it that way.

The ideal solution is he stays and he wins stuff with us, if we're putting sentiment to one side then we should put ill feeling to one side too, we'd be better off with the player than the money, because history has shown it can be difficult to replace talent, regardless of the price. I think it's a good fee but it's far from an ideal outcome, but I wouldn't lay too much blame with the club, this is all a bit out the norm.

@pjoyceexpress: City will pay an initial fee for Sterling of £44m, with £5m in add-ons.

[article=http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/raheem-sterling-transfer-liverpool-agree-6053773?]The deal is understood to be £44million paid up front and then a further £5million in add-ons based largely on appearances. It will now be completed and confirmed within the next 24 hours.[/article]

Sad to see such a big talent leave the club for good.

But I strongly doubt that he'll ever fulfill his potential.

He lacks intelligence big time. And he won't get smarter.

He can't even see that his manager is now stealing his money that he could already have earned here.

I will take that..

We will have 35 million to spend after paying QPR their 8.8 million..

Hopefully we will see 1 or 2 signings over the next couple of days.

I struggle to see who we will get for 3 million though after buying Benteke.

I personally would like Pedro and Lazarette please (obviously we will have to Stump up a bit more)

I am still shocked he's leaving the club this early. He'll go and win major trophies and we'll be calling benteke the new heskey.
