Sterling Deal Complete: 49 million (44 + 5)

49 mill is fine imho. Insane fee but only time will tell who has done the better deal.

As for Sterling, I dont think we'll be looked upon as loosers in this transfer saga with that fee. But we're losing yet again one of our best players. That trend has to stop.
We need someone to turn that around. Right now we're a selling club.
That has to change.

His contract situation should have been sorted ages ago.

Can we assume that we've lined up a big name signing in the next few days. Or can we assume that we've already spent it

So we get 35, and qpr get nearly 9. Then we potentially could get another 4.
There no way on this planet that sterling is worth 35mill nor does he play like a player like that, so this is a good deal.
We just have to reinvest this money wisely. Hopefully with another couple of fringe player sales, we could so 2x 30mill players come in and improve us massively.
This is a heist on par with our torres robbery.

"Should have been" implies it's the club's fault that it wasn't sorted earlier. What else do you think the club should have done?

He leaves with my best wishes and thanks for a being such a great player. He always conducted himself with professionalism and decorum on and off the pitch - Man City have themselves a bargain in only paying £49M for the super jet-heeled goal scoring sensation......

What annoys me is that this balloon-head at the helm was able to drive one of our top talents out instead getting the boot himself.

That's shit.

44 mill for that boy is amazing business. I rate Ibe over Sterling. Fantastic news.

I think Ibe playing last season at wing forward would have been much more effective than playing sterling there. We've kept the good one. And Ibe isn't a giant cunt which is a bonus.
City fans seem to think they've signed the best winger in the world. They've got a bit of a shock coming. He's not as good as navas lol

Sorry mate, writing on the phone and its a hassle. 🙂
I meant that we should have gotten him to sign an extension after/during his breakthrough season 13/14.
But thats easy to say in hindsight if course.

We could have been in a similar position anyway. He's got 2 years left on his deal.
I'm not sure the club could have done more if Ward had this plan from early on.

Apparently the £5m addon is contingent on appearances, according to Bascombe. So more likely than not that we'll receive the full £49m.

Great stuff.

Fucked up we'll spend it on Benteke.

How many appearances do you reckon that is, then? A season's worth? That would be a bit stupid for the buying club. More likely far beyond that, at which point it just reduces what FSG put into next summer's budget. Dr Evil would regard it as a brilliant deal, but it's superficial stuff. Let's see which big clubs allow us to buy a big star with add-ons.

I have no idea how these things work but why would we agree to add ons which we are never likely to receive?

100 odd appearances I'd guess.

Roughly 2-2.5 years hence.

I know you're desperate to paint this as some kind of humiliation, but it's a bit thin.

Loads and loads of deals have a few addons applied to the fee. Many are far more contingent than this. You're getting your panties in a twist about nothing son.
