It's only mooted that we were holding out for £50m, we've got near enough that much. I don't think the situation was as simple as £50m or nothing, he clearly can't stay and rot, however good that sounds on paper.

Yup. Also the key is going to be how we spend the money. What is the point in getting 50m on Torres if we were going to blow 35m on Carroll. It looks like we are going to spend 32.5 m on Benteke. If Benteke fires us to the top 4, this transfer is going to look like a great piece of business, irrespective of whether we got 40m or 50m. If Benteke, does not do well, this will look like a bad piece of business even if we get 55-60 m.

I'm not sure it's about agendas Mark.

We started off the summer by saying that Sterling wasn't for sale, then seemingly compromised to say we wouldn't consider anything less than 50m, and now seem to be accepting a bid which, what ever figure you want to believe, is less than 50m.

We starred down City & Sterling - but we blinked first.

We havent accepted anything though. We've started talking as their bid is close to our valuation.
The fee could be 50 mill before its accepted for all that we know.

He just goes whichever way he thinks the wind is blowing. The season before last, when we were tearing up the league, he was all over us.

Just out of interest, what's he said now?

Was on Talkshite saying we're incapable of winning thropies and that Sterling isnt driven by money or wages.
Riiiiiight.

Perhaps he's hoping his beloved Arse might snag Sterling at the last minute. When Suarez was trying to move there he was desperate to talk the idea up.

£45m+£5m is still a good fee. Like I say, I'd prefer us not to be selling, but he's made the situation barely manageable. For a 20yr old on the back of about 2yrs at this level and one that's capable of moments of brilliance, but equally capable of a run of average form, it's well inflated.

This is only a reported fee anyway, let's see what happens.

I thought in the eyes of FSG it was 50mil upfront or nothing though. Disappointing if we've backed down from that.

Seeing as we havent confirmed that we've accepted anything yet, there is no point in speculating.
The latest bid is closer to our valuation and we've started discussing the fee.

Cant see us accepting anything less than 50 mill.

I've never yet known a club to start negotiations for a wantaway player by saying 'yes, absolutely, he's for sale. Ideally we'd like x but we'll compromise on x-5.'

And yet somehow it's what ALWAYS happens.

It's just the same old dance. It says pretty much nothing about the club.

Obviously no other way now other than selling,
Just annoyed that we are a weaker team today because of that stupid cunt.

Riiiiiight.

I am sure this is correct and Raheem can make up the difference in fee by contributing his massive portion of the agent fee.

Simple.

Is there absolutely no way we could inject him with epo or something just as he leaves.

Daily Star running its a done deal, quote Coutinho's agents tweet as the source, £45million apparently.
