Sterling Deal Complete: 49 million (44 + 5)

Your senses have been deadened by watching years of shit players. Is he a Suarez? A Torres? An Owen (spits)? A Fowler? A Dalglish? A Rush? A Barnes? A Beardsley?

Is he fuck

Didn't say he was anything like that lot, you just named a load of club legends. I said he was good and I think he works well with Coutinho when they play together, I'd prefer him not to leave.

I'm with Sheiky on this - He's good but he's not that fucking good. Coutinho was miles the better player last season. Not that that says much mind.

The awesomeness of Suarez made him look much better than he actually is. I've always said that.

I agree with that. He should be sent to train with whomever, about time we showed who's in control. But it can't last forever. It didn't with Suarez, and mostly because he's the sort that just wanted to play so was happy to half-apologise and force his way back into the side. I think Sterling's attitude is somewhat different, and will eventually end up in him being sold.

This will end one of two ways:

1 - He'll be sold to City for whatever we can get.
2 - He'll stay, quasi-apologise and will be back in the side for the first game.

There will be no staying and rotting in the reserves. It will not happen.
Yeah, he won't be left to rot in the reserves for long but he will be sent to train on his own if he's disruptive. All summer should suffice and hold out on to the very last minute to approve his transfer so he has no pre-season with City (or whatever team he goes to). If he stays then he's on the bench until he fits back in to the team.

The amount of times he did his little fairy stepovers at the edge of the oppos box, got muscled off the ball, minced back as they thundered forward and then we conceded.

He's had one decent season. One. Argue with that and you've been lobotomised.

I'll go one better - He's had one good season playing next to arguably one of the very best players to ever wear the red shirt. Suarez made him look better than he is. Factoid.

The way we deal with this Sterling nonsense will set the tone for how younger players behave in the future.

If we buckle and give in, then it sets precedent for many other young hotshots to behave in the same manner as Sterling.

If we refuse to sell unless City offer what we want, and Sterling is made to work his way back into the team from the bench - youngsters will think twice about doing what he has.

At the end of season awards event, when Gerrard got a special award, all his teammates gave him a standing ovation except Sterling, who stayed sat down chatting to his girlfriend and mates. Whatever that 'special school' he went to for problem kids, it clearly wasn't special enough.

All sterling needs to do is up his conversion rate and he'll be world class. He's been, on average probably our second best player over the past 2 years (after suarez, maybe sturridge too due to his effectiveness when fit)

Great talent, poor attitude at the moment, his ineffectiveness on the pitch during the final months of the season only reinforce that. At various times, the club, brendan , young Raheem and that agent who looks like a phone shop extra have all contributed towards this mess.

He's worth 8 million more than Mangala already. What's market price to an oil rich club that doesn't have to comply with FFP?

Well they can spend as much as they want on him...the more the better obviously. My point is, anyone who has watched him over the last couple of seasons will know there's bags of potential there but still not enough match-winning end product to justify £50m.

Put it this way, if we had the finances and he wasn't a Liverpool player, how would you feel about us making a £50m bid for him?
