Sterling Deal Complete: 49 million (44 + 5)

I'm not saying he's shite. I'm saying he's not brilliant. He could be but he's not yet. Just because he was one of our best players doesn't mean he's the dogs bollocks.

Put it this way, if we had the finances and he wasn't a Liverpool player, how would you feel about us making a £50m bid for him?

If we had Citeh's finances and their serious need for more English players I'd be OK with it on footballing grounds given the state of the current market, though I'd worry about bringing such an obvious little sh!tehawk into the squad and about having to deal with that thundercnut of an agent.

He's got bags of potential and in fits and starts can look world class. He's got a shit attitude, evidently doesn't want to play for the club and is generally a bit of a wrong'un. £50m+ is a no-brainier for me.

At the end of season awards event, when Gerrard got a special award, all his teammates gave him a standing ovation except Sterling, who stayed sat down chatting to his girlfriend and mates. Whatever that 'special school' he went to for problem kids, it clearly wasn't special enough.

Unfair. I'm vice-chair of governors at such a school (set a thief, do I hear you say?) and there's a limit to what you can do when kids come to you from homes and backgrounds which have left them, to adapt Michael Foot's immortal words about Norman Tebbit, semi-housetrained polecats.

the attitude he has tells me he will be pretty much finished in the gave by the time he is 25.

he isnt actually that good at all and id be mortified if brenda was contemplating paying 50mil for him.

Well, he's very good now. City are buying his potential that over the next couple of years could be extremely good.
He's voted and ranked as one of the top talents in the World for a reason.
Lets not kidd ourselves just because he wants to leave.

But, he's a cunt. Grade A cunt. Poor attitude and a shitty agent. If he hasnt got the desire to maximize his potential his career will just fizz out in the same manner he's doing now.
He could be fucking brilliant though.

I'd take the 50 mill obviously but I hate losing a player of his quality.

When Balotelli makes you look unprofessional it's time to take a look in mirror.

And Anderson - the United one, available for free this summer and now back in Brazil at some club I've never heard of won that Golden Boy shit once

Anderson is the odd one out in that list. The rest are, well, pretty good....
The 3 Golden boy winners before Sterling. Goetze, Isco and Pogba. Decent that.

Yeah, as loads here have said, his lack of professionalism is bound to have an effect on his career sooner or later. Raw talent, and lets not kid ourselves, he's a wonderfully gifted footballer, needs to be tied with discipline and responsibility to maximise potential. The evidence strongly suggests he's lacking in this department. At the risk of fire-side psychology, I do wonder how much of the absence of a father has impacted upon him. Dads seem to be especially important to young footballers, as when everyone else is treating them like heros, they accept criticism and discipline from their Dad. Would a Dad have tolerated this Aidy Ward nonsense, no doubt with a keen sense of his son's public image?

I think it was GKMacca who wrote about agents such as Aidy Ward taking advantage of the situations of young kids like Sterling, who sometimes don't have male role models, and filling that void by basically becoming their big brother, sorting stuff for them, hanging out with them and providing 'guidance' and 'advice' to the point where footballers will feel closer to their agent than to most other people.

Didn't see that, but that sounds like a very plausible scenario.

@LFCZA: James Pearce was on Talksport last night. Said that if bid was to be the last & fell short, #FSG would make #Sterling stay at #LFC.

I think you have to change the question so that it fits our position and circumstances. We wouldn't be able to buy Sterling if he was at a club like ours in the Premiership and we definitely can't pay anything like 50M. That shit is reserved for the City's of this world. Their 50M is like our 30-35M.

So if you were to ask would I be willing to pay 35M for a player like Sterling the answer would be an easy yes.

Liverpool should release a statement saying that "The club is concerned about Rahem's current medical situation, but will support him in his bid to get well again and provide all necessary medical support".

Get Rodgers to read it out.

See what the little pricks response to that is.

No it's because some people are cunts who think they can send that sort of abuse. These people need to get a grip. I don't care what he does, the type of abuse he's getting is pathetic.

Have an opinion, by all means but texting, tweeting or phoning him with racist abuse? Fuck off. It's pointless, and it's illegal and it says more about some of the people who follow us than it does about Sterling.

I agree with that.. but unfortunately you are going to get that anywhere, the world is full of morons and its difficult to police.

A good agent should know that and should represent his client and conduct himself in a professional manner to avoid all this... He hasn't.. So whilst it is unacceptable from these so called fans.. Sterling's agent Aidy Ward is pretty much to blame for all this...

It is common knowledge Degea wants to leave UTD.. Are the UTD fans texting him with abuse ??

No.. Because he probably has a damn fine agent that is giving him the correct advice to protect him from that...

I'd be inclined to take the third offer today. It's fair value given his recent form and obvious attitude issues.

Moreover, if it means we can move quickly on our striker target and get him in more for a full pre season to hit the ground running, it'd be worth a few million alone in the grand scheme of things.

Get the wee cunt and his fucking circus out of the club now and move on.

He's well worth 50m and Citeh should snap him up. He doesn't have a 'shit attitude', he's just misunderstood. I couldn't recommend him too highly to Citeh. And Mr Ward is a gentleman who is just trying to look after his client, almost like a father.

If we get 50M then its a no brainer. His head is elsewhere and all the bridges have been burned. Get the money and hopefully spend it well.

But people questioning how good he is/was? FFS he's just turned 20, and he's being compared with Suarez, Torres etc.

I wouldn't put it past some agents to leak their clients phone numbers in the hope that abusive calls and messages motivate them to leave even more...
