Sterling Deal Complete: 49 million (44 + 5)

The 'let him rot the cunt' attitude is appealing, especially after the way he's acted over the last few months, but it simply can't happen. you can't have a 40-50M asset dwindling away doing nothing, plus it'd be the story that never goes away. He'd be there training with you every day for 2 years - imagine what that'd do for harmony at the club.
Managed well it could have the opposite effect

You wouldn't though.

It may be amusing to watch him rot, but surely we're all mature enough to realise that's a bit thick.

It won't happen - He'll be sold. As a club I think we come out of it smiling on several fronts.

Fuck the 40M-50M, we'd end up wasting it as usual anyway.

LET HIM ROT!

In all seriousness though, it would be brilliant if we stuck to our guns and sold him only if we got the 50M we are chasing.

If City don't meet that then no deal, Sterling stays ... and it would be fucking amazing to watch that dickhead sitting on the bench with his tail between his legs.

And after all the bullshit said about Rodger's, he's going to have to work like a slave to get back into the starting XI

Sheik - Show me an instance where a player valued at 50M was allowed to rot in the reserves for 2 years has been managed well...

It doesn't make financial sense. Players are assets that much is true. But at some point someone has to take a stand in these situations. Yeah it's all a bit romantic and is idealism, but at present, I'd take it. I could of course change my view at some point. It just sums up my general feelings about football right now.

If we sell for below 50 it sends out a really bad message.

Once he realises City aren't going to pay it he will come around and have a good season.

BR sent Suarez to train on his own, should do the same with Sterling if he's that disruptive.

I agree with that. He should be sent to train with whomever, about time we showed who's in control. But it can't last forever. It didn't with Suarez, and mostly because he's the sort that just wanted to play so was happy to half-apologise and force his way back into the side. I think Sterling's attitude is somewhat different, and will eventually end up in him being sold.

This will end one of two ways:

1 - He'll be sold to City for whatever we can get.
2 - He'll stay, quasi-apologise and will be back in the side for the first game.

There will be no staying and rotting in the reserves. It will not happen.

There is an element of making a stand in the instance.

1) We payed fuck all for him anyway.
2) There is a 25% sell on clause that needs to be considered.
3) It will send a clear message that we are not a club to be fucked with regarding agents or preening little scrotes that think they are the bizzo at 19 and won some stupid European young player award.

That said - He will still be sold.

despite the cuntishness I'd still take no.2, a swift return to form and a place in the side

The clear difference here is that Suarez was fucking boss, is a fighter, had the brains to realise it'd do him no good to stagnate by being made to train on his own. And then we have the little bag headed gimp who thinks he's on a par with Suarez.

Yep, made the exact same point a few replies back.

I don't think there's ever been a player genuinely worth that amount who has entrenched their position this much and as much as I criticise the owners in some areas, I really believe they're cold as steel if someone gets their back up. If Suarez and his agents couldn't win then this piece of shit and his Delboy agent are on a hiding to nothing.

I see Gerrard has piped up - Exclusive interview with Vinny fucking O'Conner

Sky sources understand the 19-year-old forward no longer wants to work with manager Brendan Rodgers - something the club strongly denies.
But, in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News HQ from new club LA Galaxy, Gerrard accused Sterling of letting down Liverpool's supporters.
Gerrard said: “I’m not happy with all that carry-on and I don’t think there’s any need for it. They all need to be men about the situation.
“Raheem needs to go in and speak to the owners and to Brendan himself, tell them what he wants and go about it that way. You don’t have to throw illnesses in and refuse to go on tour.
"There are millions and millions of Liverpool fans around the world who are itching to see Raheem Sterling in a Liverpool kit. So I don’t think it’s fair on them if he is behaving like that.”

I can translate that for those not used to the odd use of sky interview and standard response language

Gerrard - 'He should stop acting like a fucking cunt - Pulling sickies and being a whopper. There are millions of die hard redmen around the globe that can't wait to hurl a fuck load of abuse at Raheem for being big headed tart. Don't deny them that opportunity - He's a cunt.

I might have lost something in the syntax but that's the general jist.

Your senses have been deadened by watching years of shit players. Is he a Suarez? A Torres? An Owen (spits)? A Fowler? A Dalglish? A Rush? A Barnes? A Beardsley?

Is he fuck

He has loads of time on his side though. The little rat for all his poor finishing has serious ability. It's a crying shame it has come to this.

For what it's worth, I can't see City coming in with a £50m bid hence he'll be staying put.
