Shame for Allen. Dont think the keeper would have saved that regardless of Sakho standing there

I don't think Flannagan is up to controlling the team. Hopefully he grows in to it.

Won't feel comfortable until we get a third, but the way we've attacked Southampton today has been marvellous.

Good half that. Should have been 3-0.
Stop making those stupid challenges outside our own box

If we are that dominant the players are screwing it up by not going for more - we should try and get another 3 goals in second half.

There can't be another current player who drifts as well as Sturridge. When he collects the ball midway in their half, moves inside, plays a short pass and then just...drifts forward, like a stealth aircraft. He must be hell to find, let alone defend against.

He seems to be painfully indecisive on the ball too, which is not a good trait for a modern full back. Great first half going forward, particularly Sturridge Coutinho and Allen, not so hot at the back from Flanagan and Lovren. I think we will concede but we should definitely get another goal here their back 4 is getting run ragged.

Well, pretty much every player has played at the very least, a good game. Sturridge being Studge perhaps (greedy but brilliant), Can quiet and maybe Coutinho not a 100% on his game, but otherwise the defence have been very solid, the midfield combative and combining well with Origi and Studge to rip Southampton apart. The only surprise is we are not 4 or 4 ahead. Allen has been superb.

Half time thoughts:

  • I thought, at first, the Lovren penalty was like the Palace penalty - a striker getting touched and a 50/50 call. Watching again, bloody lucky to have been a penalty. Wreckless from Lovren ... @Lucas
  • Sakho again playing really well. Playing back into form?
  • Emre Can has been really really good again. Making the right passes more and more.
  • Joe Allen - should be starting the next game as well ... Really playing well, and should have had our 3rd.
  • Coutinho ... Goal on Thursday, and a great goal today ... He's being far more successful with his positive passes today.
  • Better today from Studge - great goal, and making more of a nuisance of himself by making dangerous runs ...
  • Origi and Lallana have both been fantastic - non-stop running, solid passing and just positive, attacking play.
