Its on chaps..

Dare we Dream ????

Suarez we are lucky to have him.. what a player..

Sterling.. World Class Player in the making, he has everything in his game...

Special mention to Agger.. Great Performance today.. Back to his best

Solid game from our CBs, though Mig deserves big credit for that save against Rodriguez. That goes in, they may win but he keeps it at 1-0 at half time and we win.

A lot will complain about Gerrard - yes he was poor in the 1st half, but big improvement in 2nd half. I think we're fine with him there. Lucas should play there against better teams (with Gerrard on the **gasp** bench).

Good game from Glen Johnson too ...

Rodgers also deserves credit aswell.

First half Soton had 19 crosses and in the 2nd half they had 6. The changes made at half time were very good

Dangerously, I watched this game with a Jonah who I've never seen us win with (I couldn't get out of it, without being rude), and now, the mighty Liverpool have broken his dark spell.

Yes. We're going to win the league.

Last 3 games, played somewhere between well within ourselves and (at times) dreadfully, and gotten 9 points. Stuff of champions, that.

I think that we're still a year away, but my god this has been a wonderful season of progress....

We are going to win the league......

If we play like this all season.

Superb defending and Suarez unplayable yet again.

Henderson did a good job on Shaw and I thought Allen was superb.

Skrtel again was superb, I really love him

Check out this from match thread.

Predictions:
Fonte red.
Gerrard pen.
Allen stormer.
Both teams to score.
Suarez to score.

Close. Fonte gave away pen and both teams should have scored.

I felt sorry for Johnson, he received some absolute bastard passes tight on the side, but he still did pretty well IMHO. A great move from Rodgers, though, with that change in the second half.

Excellent win. Defended a lot better but still lacking a wrecking machine ala Mascher. SG being as good as he is not a proper DM and can be out of position. Results sort of went our way today in that the gooners lost and in the past we have failed to capitalise on that. Today was a true banana skin and to come out with a +3 gd win is great. onwards and upwards.

I though Suarez looked really tired today at times, still scored, assisted and won a penalty 👍

Suarez is so insanely good.

We were much better once Coutinho was off and Sterling came on. Coutinho has to learn from Suarez. When you're not on top of your game, put in 120% effort. His problem right now is that he's either irresistible or anonymous.

Felt for Sturridge. Apart from the time where he should have scored, he made an unbelievable number of runs for the team. Unfortunately our passing game was quite poor so he didn't receive too many balls. 'A' for effort.

Bringing Ramirez on and making him the focal point of the attack was a shot in the foot by Southampton, it nullified the effect of Lallana who was awesome, I think the game would have been a lot different if they didn't change that part. Johnson was brilliant today, coped well despite being isolated in the first half by Coutinho. Sterling was fantastic when he came on, even though he was playing in a new position. Agger, Skrtel were solid, Flannel Again had one of his worse games, but still nothing terrible. Suarez was fantastic and it was great to see him scoring again, Sturridge wasn't as effective as usual, but still if it wasn't for some sort of bro bond those two were going for today, he'd have scored. Gerrard needs to work on covering runners, Lallana had the making of him in the first half, I shudder to think how much fun Silva or Oscar would have with him. I'm most pleased with how professional that performance was, that was a really hard game, and we won despite not being the clear best side, got a clean sheet, happy days. Performances like that make us contenders, not pretenders.

Glad you managed to watch the whole game 😉 It was shaky in the first half.

Flanagan too. Don't know what the defenders expect from our fullbacks by giving them the ball in such tight situations.

Wow. Watched that match covered in paint after painting the eaves of the house all day.

The fans are singing the songs again, we are all starting to believe...

Mignolet - Strong, some great saves and punches, only distribution was a slight downfall.
Flanno - Worked his knackers off and made some crucial tackles, but looked equally out of his depth at times, but to be fair received little cover off Henderson/Gerrard in first half.
Skrtel - Slightly sloppy in first half hour but super strong after that, got his head to everything.
Agger - Immense, didn't put a foot wrong as far as I saw, and very happy to be able to say that after last week's really poor showing.
Johnson - Looked a lot fitter and worked really hard. Passing wasn't always great and didn't get forward enough, but defensively did very well.
Gerrard - A total passenger in the first half, but excellent the second half and a brilliant pen.
Henderson - Not nearly as good as last week but covered every blade in the end, an ok performance.
Allen - Very sloppy passing first half hour but tighter after that, pressed everyone for the whole 90 and covered back very well.
Studge - Good running, didn't get much service but decision making in his few chances wasn't the best.
Suarez - MOTM, brilliant take for goal and looked really settled after that. Ran everywhere, got his body in front of the ball, wheeled out the tricks, setup the second and lead the way the whole game.

Sterling - Great goal, looked bright and gave us energy we needed in place of Coutinho. Did a good defensive job
Coutinho - Good feet at times, but bar that nothing at all came off for him. Just a poor day.

I don't think we played well today overall - obviously we played poorly for 30 mins of the first half and while we improved after the break, we were a fair bit away from what our best.

However, you have to enjoy the way the lads responded in the second half. We managed to play like a team that realized we were going after a CL place if not a title, and woke up and put them in their place. We weren't stellar, but we took our chances (and still squandered some), and zipped up tight at the back.

Remember earlier this season, we were always a team that played better in the first half but poorer in the second - we've shown in the last few games how we're now capable of stepping up a level in the second half as well. That's progress for you.

Very satisfying game, even if the performance itself wasn't that satisfactory. Fantastic result.

Oh and one thing - did Wanyama swallow Micky Quinn?

I though Suarez looked really tired today at times, still scored, assisted and won a penalty 👍

Yes, I wondered if he was suffering from a bug, I've never seen him bend down and catch his breath so many times in a game. Yet still he was often inspired.

I felt sorry for Johnson, he received some absolute bastard passes tight on the side, but he still did pretty well IMHO. A great move from Rodgers, though, with that change in the second half.
The difference between him and Aly is huge.

He was superb on the ball under pressure.

I'd love us to get Shaw

The reason we're 2nd in the final quarter of the season:

Suarez = 23 Games 24 Goals 10 Assists 127 Shots
Sturridge = 20 Games 18 Goals 5 Assists 68 shots

I felt sorry for Johnson, he received some absolute bastard passes tight on the side, but he still did pretty well IMHO. A great move from Rodgers, though, with that change in the second half.

Yeah, although sometimes, some stuff is of his own doing as well. He seems to be too static and need that extra touch these days for some reason, which is fine against some teams, but quite hazardous against teams like Soton.

Henderson and Allen are good examples of players who suit our game because they seem to pretty much know who is going to be where every time, and when they get the ball, they start moving and then quickly move the ball, whereas with Johnson, he'd often slow down, hold the ball and try to find someone to pass to, by which time an opposing trap would've closed on him.

Oh and unfortunately for Sturridge, his consecutive league game scoring streak ends at 8. Should've scored the chance he got though. I wonder why Rodgers had chosen to take him off instead of Suarez though, when quite visibly, Suarez was limping after the earlier challenge by Wanyama.

Ming - 7 - superb save and good keeping off his line at high balls
Johnson - 8 - he kept that side in check almost totally, did very well in the box and played well throughout despite pressure and little outlet.
Agger - 7 - gave away 2 hospital passes (to Johnson and Skrtel) and was nowhere on the Lallana hit the post. Otherwise had a good game.
Skrtel - 7 - constant hoofball in the 1st half but covered Flanno very well and did well against crosses.
Flanno - 5 - very poor game again. His passing was generally very poor, he dived into tackles and was left stranded upfield a number of times, just jogging back instead of breaking a gut to get back there. We were very lucky not to concede a goal from that side.
Gerrard - 6.5 - Jekyll and Hyde. First half atrocious whilst 2nd half was much improved.
Coutinho - 5 - really not at the races on any level today.
Allen - 7.5 - had a decent first half but had his pocket picked a couple of times. 2nd half was much much better and was one of the key factors in us wresting control of the midfield.
Henderson - 5 - had an absolutely horrific 1st half where his protection for Flanno was non-existent. Much much better in the 2nd half (must surely had had a rollicking at half time from Rodgers) where he stayed closer to our right hand side to nullify Shaw, but still fluffed a gilt-edged chance to score (why , why , why lean backwards FFS) ?
Sturridge - 7 - great movement. Should have scored (twice) but he tries to go around the keeper nearly all the time now, he really should shoot earlier.
Suarez - 8.5 - what has not been said about him already ? Fantastic player who terrified them whenever he was in possession. His heart and passion is just simply magnificent.

Sterling - 7.5 - would love to give him higher but not for 40 mins. Was massive for us from the moment he came on.

Mate. They often had 2-3 players closing him down and we were far far too static in the first half. The movement around him was awful and he did well to retain possession on numerous occasions. I literally can't remember one time Gerrard came to make himself available.

The result is excellent. The performance was as average as it was against Swansea.

Mignolet - great save but totally inconsistent when coming for crosses.
Johnson - as previous. Just fuck off Glen. Yes he was given some hospital balls but fuck me, just put it in touch an bollock the passer! Over elaborate, inefficient and woefully out of position on many occasions. A RB should not be 30 yards forward of his CBs when we are defending.
Flanagan - average game for me and need so Improve passing.
Skrtel - good solid game, realised that no frills were needed.
Agger - not too dissimilar to Skrtel
Gerrard - utter passenger in first half and grew into the game but looked laboured and struggled to track Sotons runners from midfield
Henderson - struggled. His passing was off, he kept on going but looked tired. Bad miss as well.
Allen - worked his socks off, but like all our midfield struggled in first half. Looked better once we were two up. Passing was not up to standard.
Coutinho - too many stray passes, to much possession lost. Poor game.
Sturridge - decision making was poor, that first chance should have been buried by him, perhaps selfish criticism was on his mind? But kept working throughout.
Suarez - well, this bloke is just amazing. He was not at his best tonight, but scores one and creates the other two. We should thank every lucky star for this fella. Simply the best at the moment.
Sterling - great impact, good running, work rate and a great finish. One of the revelations of this season for me. Thought he was another one who was flattering to deceive.

Fuck it, I will take the result every day.
