Solanke - Liverpool striker?

He's a kid. He needs time and experience. I think he's got good potential, his height could offer us something different when we've mainly got very mobile midgets, and he's shown at international level he's got a range of shots on him. Be patient.

Im not writing him off at 20, he may go on to be a very good player. But right now he has absolutely no business in our first team. Hes not sharp enough mentally or physically, he needs to play somewhere else to get that sharpness, 30 mins a month of first team football is doing nothing for him.

I though he helped us out hugely on Wednesday when he came on.
He was poor today though.
I haven't given up on him but worryingly Origi showed more in his first season than Dom has and it is pretty clear that Divoc is not good enough

Genuine question, has he been saved from embarrassment by the fact Firmino has been fit all season? I dont see what he offers right now that Origi doesnt.

I think Ings is gone this summer, the injures have clearly taken alot out of him. Origi is probably gone too, Klopp seems to have no interest in him. For that reason i think Solanke is safe this summer, but he wont survive a 2nd season like this.

This kid is very young, being a striker is not easy job especially at that age. How many 20 yet old strikers are there in the premiership? These days we seem impatient, not every kid is going to develop explosively like Wayne Rooney... Solanke needs a loan, look at what good loan spells did for Kane, Lukaku and Sturridge.

My opinion of him dropped a bit as the game went on. He was weak in the air and outmuscled for most of the second half. I’m worried that he’s only risen to prominence for his age because of his size compared to his peers.

He’s young and could develop but he has a lot of work to do. There’s nothing he’s especially gifted at doing from what I can tell. The comparisons with Origi are telling.

Let’s hope he has a great attitude and listens to the coaching he’s getting.

I think its way to early to tell. He’s been scoring reguraly at youth level and needs more time.
In an ideal World he’d spend next season on loan at a Premiership club and play each week.

It's annoying. You can see what solanke wants to do, as he is clever, but he's let down by ability. Original has all the ability in the worls, but is too thick to know when to use it

Solanke gets into good positions, but was out-muscled almost every time. I think he needs premiership loan - Brighton or Huddersfield would be ideal if they stay up. Maybe Burnley. He needs a run of games that we will never provide (at least I hope not). But, 2 years on...I think there is a 50/50 chance he could be excellent.

Klopp said that his original plan, when we got him, was just have him in the U23s. It was a good preseason that saw him promoted to 1st team squad. Looks like the preseason was the exception rather than the norm and Klopp's initial assessment was correct. Given that, he has met initial expectations, is still a work in progress, and has nothing to be embarrassed for.

Ings, on the other hand, dissapoints

Agree. He needs to not be playing under 23 football and learning proper competitive football

I also think solanke is playing shite to keep the fee down.

Clever lad

Nah, he just needs to play. If Firmino would have borked in August I reckon he'd be murdering the league now. His pre season was boss, he just hasn't had any game time.

He's dreadful, and gene's point about him being bigger than the rest of the kids his age rings true to me. His touch is fucking disgusting. He should be nowhere near the first team.

The comparisons with Origi are doing Divock a disservice really, was Origi that bad? His goals record was good and his general performance could be too, he certainly had a better touch, was quicker and striked the ball alot cleaner than Solanke has shown. His big downfall was his lack of confidence, which I suspect will be the reason he won't make it with us.

That said, Dom deserves time, he's only a kid and he needs to learn and ply his trade. His touch was terrible today though.

Origi was,is,shall forever be, shite.

He plays for the U-20s, U-21s and U-23s, kids his age group?

No he wasn't. He played his part in our Europa League run until Everton crocked him.

He had a run where he scored in 5 consecutive games or something and scored some winning goals as well. If Solanke ever did the same from here on we would be laughing.

He was unplayable in the run in the season before last, no one could get near him, including opponents like United and Dortmund, so he's clearly not "shite".
He's a purple patch striker

Yeah he is and he's also got brittle confidence and is in absolute shite form, but he's not a shit player.
