So, Joe Allen...

Just seen the Rodgers Interview...................Great news about Allen!

So Borini and Allen in so far with Aqua, Maxi, Kuyt and Fabio gone. A couple more signings of that quality and we'll have had a good transfer window for once!

If we intend to stick with a 4-3-3 then we need numbers in midfield.

We could lose one though.

Anyone else find Rodgers phrasing about Allen a bit odd?

He makes it sound like he has nothing to do with the signing.

Maybe to deflect any accusations of tapping up? Can't think of any other reason.

To be fair, in terms of bidding and negotiating a price, I doubt he has.

how come Adam was picked over Henderson last night? both are poor, but Henderson less so.

I suspect cos Rodgers sees Henderson as a player that fits already in his system & young enough to mould if needs be. I doubt he had seen that much of Adam.

With Allen coming in I wouldn't be surprised to see Adam shipped out.

According to Goal.com

It is understood that Liverpool have agreed to triple Allen's Swansea salary, which is worth £15,000-a-week, and supplement it with a £2m signing-on fee.

To be honest, £45,000 a week is perfectly fine, not so sure about the huge sign on fee though.

Maybe its just me but the 16-20m and reportedly 60k/wk wages spent on Henderson is looking as bad as the Carroll deal.

I think sheik nailed it with his comments in the Agger thread. BR's trying to distance himself from player ins and outs so that he can't be blamed if Agger goes for 20m odd. Likewise, he's following suit with this Allen comment.

Despite the fact he knows full fucking well what's happening. You don't refuse to take the job in the first place if there's a DoF in place cos you want control over player movement, and then claim to not know what's happening re transfers a month later.

He's a shrewd operator.

Yeah, it does make sense.

I'd be interested to know if he took notes whilst Swansea were celebrating a goal too, my first though when he did that was that he was trying to endear himself to the fans by mimicking rafa in that sense. Maybe I'm just a cynic.

The team is finally starting to take shape. Allen will be a good signing and knows how Rodgers likes football to be played. With him next to lucas that will make us defensively solid and hopefully control the midfield allowing gerrard to bomb forward.

There's still time for a few dealings. Adams will be sold or Henderson will be loaned out. Therell be no shifting Shelvey who needs to cut out the silly tackles. This lad is already some player and is going to be a beast.
