May 2007 - Makes Football League debut under Roberto Martinez in Swansea's 6-3 defeat to Blackpool on final game of season, Swansea needing to win to make League One play-offs.
August 2007 - Still 17, makes Wales Under 21 debut, scoring winner in 4-3 win in Sweden alongside David Edwards, Simon Church and Aaron Ramsey.
August 2007 - Signs three year deal at Liberty following man of match performance in first Swansea start, Carling Cup win over Walsall.
May 2008 - Makes 14 appearances as Swansea win League One title.
October 2008 - Joins Wrexham on loan, scores on debut before spell cut short through foot injury.
January 2009 - Forces way back into Swansea side as Martinez's team finish just outside play-off places in first year in Championship, scoring a memorable first goal for club in the final South Wales derby at Ninian Park in April.
May 2009 - Makes senior international debut in friendly win over Estonia in Llanelli. Then Swans boss Roberto Martinez says: "“If you look at Joe’s progress over the past 16 months, it has been staggering. And there’s still a lot more to come from him."
June 2009 - Signs three-year Swansea deal as new manager Paulo Sousa replaces Martinez.
November 2010 - Named man of the match in Swansea's 1-0 South Wales derby win at Cardiff City Stadium. Then Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers says: "“He is a controller, someone who dictates the game like Xavi. I’m not saying he’s Xavi, but he’s that type. He has that wonderful footballing arrogance that big players have.”
May 2011 - Part of Swansea side that seals promotion to Premier League with 4-2 win over Reading in Wembley play-off final.
August 2011 - Signs new four-year contract with Swansea, with £15m release clause inserted.
October 2011 - Makes first Wales start in win over Switzerland in Swansea under the late Gary Speed.
December 2011 - Subject of enquiries from Premier League rivals and speculation of a move away from Liberty after a string of superb performances, leading Western Mail columnist John Hartson to claim he was worth £15m. Rodgers dimisses fears and says: "Players understand that this club is a good fit for them. For the likes of a Joe Allen, there is probably not too many better places he can be in European football to develop his game."
May 2012 - Rodgers leaves Swansea for Liverpool and immediately linked with a move for Allen despite "player protection" agreement between clubs.
June 2012 - Named as part of Stuart Peace's Team GB squad for London 2012 Olympics.
July 2012 - Details of Allen's contract release clause emerge as he impresses for Team GB, Rodgers confirming his admiration of the midfielder.
July 24 2012 - Liverpool make opening offer of £12.5m plus loan option of Jonjo Shelvey for Allen, rejected by Swansea.
August 6 2012 - New Swansea manager Michael Laudrup insists he will seek Allen's opinion in wake of Liverpool interest, but warns it will take the full £15m to make the deal happen.
