Agreed. Is he facing a tougher task here though. We'll see.

It's a lot different, but I'm not sure it's tougher.

Baseball has nowhere near as much room for growth, in fact in many ways it's a shrinking market.

Worrying that we might also expect a hike in prices at the ground.

I think that is a cause for concern. An American journo on TV yesterday remarked that it was very expensive to buy a ticket for Fenway Park.

That side of things is actually quite overblown, imo. It's no worse, relatively speaking, than get a ticket to Anfield... Do your homework, and you'll be fine.

I used to go back up every other year to take in three or four games at Fenway, and was never fleeced. It's because so many people over buy their season tickets only to resell them at exhorbitant prices that you'll hear horror stories ... What you don't hear are things like, for EVERY home game, the Sox keep several hundred tickets, for all locations, for sale on game day, at face value. Rory and I queued for about an hour to get ten rows behind home plate, for $40 each.

It costs to go to any decent sporting event over here, and Fenway Park is a cathederal more than a stadium to these folks... It's hallowed. So, it may cost a little more, but that's only to be expected.

Despite being a Yankee fan, I have always respected what the Red Sox have done. The thing I really admire about them is the way they bring up players from their farm system, notably Pedroia, Ellsbury, Bucholz and Papelbon. On top of stadium development and transfer funds, I'm hoping that our academy takes even more steps forward in producing talented youngsters.

If they did that thing with tickets on the gates I'd be fucking made up. Takes me back to the days of queuing for Kop tickets from half 11 on a Saturday.

You like queuing?

haha, no, I like the idea that young fans will be able to queue up for tickets on matchdays, cos let's face it, they're the only ones who'll be able to afford a few hours on a Sat morning to spare, & currently they find it difficult to get tickets unless they go with their parents, which kinda takes away form the matchday experience.

Biggest ticket queue I was in at Anfield started by Goodison, went all along Priory Road, up Arkles Lane and along Anfield Road into the Main Stand car park. It was about 4 people deep. Amazingly, I got to the end of the queue and bought my tickets!

The club has to try and bridge the gap between itself and its competitors somehow. We're never going to get 70,000 people every week, so higher ticket prices is the only way we can hope to make up the difference. What you'd hope is that they'll still keep a portion of tickets at lower prices so ordinary fans aren't priced out of going to the match.

Thank you, Mr. Entertainment! 😛

A queue for Hodgson's Liverpool would barely reach the Harry, and they would be drunk or mental.
