Liverpool are closing in on a move for Newcastle star Moussa Sissoko, according to reports.

The Reds have already signed a number of players this summer, including Southampton's Nathaniel Clyne, Hoffenheim's Roberto Firmino and Manchester City's James Milner.

Liverpool are still believed to be in the market for a new midfielder following Steven Gerrard's departure to LA Galaxy, and have been linked with a move for Roma's Miralem Pjanic and Paris Saint-Germain's Yohan Cabaye.
However, French newspaper L'Equipe claims that Toon ace Sissoko is at the top of Brendan Rodgers' shopping list despite strong interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.

And it is said that Liverpool are leading the race to sign the France international after launching an official bid for his signature, with Newcastle ready to accept as they close in on a deal for PSV Eindhoven's Georginio Wijnaldum.
