Seeing as he wanted to leave its a moot point isnt it? Hopefully though Gerrard will inject some much needed creativity in the side.
No it isnt a MOOT point.
He said he didnt want to leave. Why believe the story that suits your agenda.
I dont know if he wanted to go or we wanted rid.
There are three indisputable facts.
1.He was under contract for 3 more years.
2.We sold him.
3.We are worse without him.

I agree totally with Krump it is one of the worst decisions we have ever made as a football club. Its ALREADY biting us in the ass.
It's what you're doing too ... There are two stories here - 1) he was unhappy and wanted out (who cares when it happened) and 2) he was happy and was forced out. No one really knows who's telling the truth, so everyone is just 'believing' (myself included obviously) what suits their 'agenda'.

Your points are all right ... currently. I'm hoping a healthy & hungry Gerrard, with Downing and Suarez in front of him, will make y'all forget Ming (I still can't believe it's one of our 'worst ever' decisions - we didn't sell Beardo or Alonso here).
No im not. Im not picking any truth from the rumour. Im saying he is CONTRACTED regardless of wether he wanted to leave.
Scenario A)He wants to leave - TOUGH.
Scenario B)We wanted him to leave - RETARDED.

Either way we fucked up.

Steven Gerrard once handed in a transfer request, he stayed and has been awesome ever since.

Modric is probably a better comparison to make though
Wayne Rooney at United last year.
Tevez at Citeh last year.
Barry at Villa the season we went in for him.

If we chose to sell him we are dicks.
If we felt we had to we are dicks.
=
? ?

you have to assume with a striker pool of bellamy, kuyt, suarez and carroll we are going to go two up front most (every) game so we have to go 4 across the middle. you add gerrard into the mix and downing that leaves two slots. is meireles or aqua good enough to play in a wide position or does either give enough protection if you drop lucas?

all decisions that kenny had to wrestle before pulling the trigger.

Henderson 21

Raul 28

At the moment he aint as good as them but give him the years he lacks behind A&R i'm sure he can be

What point are you trying to make? At all? If it's that he might be good later, so fucking what? This is one of the biggest sports clubs on the planet. Titting about with potential isn't what we should be doing.
Didn't J W Henry want young upcoming english players in his team to challenge for the premiership, so Dalglish went out and bought Henderson so after 5 games he's shite.. i remember raul been shit for more than 5 consecutive games but we stuck by him..

We speak true facts Mr Red. Epic fail on our part.

I'm clear in my mind, I blame Camolli for all of it, he was probably all up in Kenny's ear about his stats and what not.

Its WANK being a football supporter. It really is.
I stayed in on a Sat night on my fucking birthday weekend so I would be fresh and of sound mind to watch the game. Stayed up all night buzzing for the game which kicked off here at 5:30 am and then that fucking happened. Some other cunts I know went out, didnt bother their arse getting up and will bin off the highlights cause we lost. Harsho Marks.

But that's part and parcel of being a fan. Some days are just WANK.

Who gives a fuck what John Henry thinks? Hedge fund running cunt who's massively to blame for the financial crisis.

There is no graph on which Henderson is a better player than Ming.

Seriously, no one can think that. Time for a poll.

Andy - you said 'He didn't want to leave' and said Hansern was believing something that suited his agenda. There is evidence that he DID want to leave, but again, no one knows here for sure ... That's all I'm saying. If it's the TOUGH (what Hansern believes) or the RETARDED (what you believe) scenario, I still think we'll be fine (I will raise my hand and say I don't know exactly where I stand yet if it was bad or good - it all depends how this season goes really) ...

He was a good, solid player but the comments here make it out to be as if he was a Beardo or a Alonso, which he wasn't and never will be. We'll do fine without him, and I hope no one will care that much by season's end or at least till our next bad game.

Yeah, and I also spaffed up against an exes wall the other night. Sometimes you try to kid yourself.

I re-read it - I just thought you were implying it based on your 'why believe what your agenda needs' line to Hansern. If not, I'm sorry.

Krump - duly noted.
Look Hansern is saying HE wanted to leave. I pointed out to Hansern that HE said he didnt. There are two sides and you shouldnt just pick one to suit you. I dont know what is true, but the fact is he was contracted.
I certainly didnt suggest that I knew what happened.

At the start of the season we had massive options on midfield that we were all debating about. Now we don't. We had good players on top of good players. The squad depth we've been crying out for. Krump is 100% right. We fucked up selling our best player last year.

I said I'm sorry already. I don't want to say it again, I've already apologized on the website enough and it's hurting my tough guy rep.

The thing that's so sad here is Ming isn't even some brilliant player. He's just much better than what we have.

Post of the day.

The sad thing is the amount of shit some of you talk. Regardless of who we have sold and brought in over summer, the squad as a whole is much better than it was last season and if the staff address some fundamental problems then there is no reason why we wont finish in the top 4 which is what we are trying to achieve this season. It is still early days and the team are still learning to play with each other

The squad is significantly better.

Our best team is not vastly improved, as far as I'm concerned, especially considering the amount spent.

The thing is, we aren't complaining about big costly decisions, players we could have theoretically got, that sort of ahistorical thinking. We had a good player, we let them go, and our central midfield, which was a massive problem last year, now rests on a couple incoming players performing really well. That may or may not happen. Why risk it, when we have a player we know plays well in our midfield already and doesn't require time to learn?

It's not that complicated, which is why it's so frustrating.

it's a fair enough point but that fact that it doesnt seem complicated indicates to me that there was probably something more going on behind the scenes

Err no we didn't stick by him at all. Myself and half a dozen others might have stuck by him. Ming was enduring more slaggings off on here this time last year than Henderson is now. He was if I recall a lightweight who could not tackle or hold the ball.

regards

I was really disappointed that we sold Ming, but that in itself was not the biggest issue. It was letting Ming and Aquilani go, if we had any idea at all that Ming was giving the slightest possible hint that he wanted to go we should not have let Aquilani out on loan again. We should not really have done it full stop, but with Ming still here I can see why they did.

regards

Thats how I remember it too coz I know I was thinking that at the time, and believe it or not I am not bothered by his departure because all I remember about him is that he scored a few goals last year by getting into good positions but could not and still don't understand the type of role he played for us in midfield. I don't think he would have made any difference to our game today because Kenny would not have started him and if he did come on we would have been down to 10/9 men anyway.
I just want it on record. It was the worst decision since Dogleash came back. It was a terrible mistake and it could be crucial.

Now I'm drunk and just home after a return trip to Spurs, but this isn't because of that. I've been going on about it since it happened and I still can't figure it out.

Henderson is fucking shit. Adam is average. Lucas is Lucas. Ming is boss.

Massive fucking fail.
Pffft, you said Ashley Young was "fucking shit" all summer.

His biggest mistake wasn't selling Meireles, it was spending 100M on average footballers.

Kenny's biggest mistake is when he bring Carroll in. That's the biggest mistake. Kenny has to do something quick.
I don't get you Ryan (let's leave the 'you know shit about football, and should only talk about hockey' lines).

We tried to sign Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Juan Mata & looked into going after Sergio Aguero. Where did each player land? So each player went to teams that could offer something we couldn't.

We went from a shit team last year (before Roy got fired) to a decent team (now). We had to sign players to give us a better chance of finishing 4th (which you feel we can attain, but it will be a struggle). What on earth could we have done better? Forced the above players to sign? Keep Aquilani? You're too knowledgable to know turnarounds don't happen overnight. We went from shit to decent quickly - let's not expect the decent to top 4 definites, or champions, to come overnight (though it would be nice).

To sum it up - who would you have wanted to sign in the summer with the '100 million'?

Selling Merieles as mentioned was a monumental fck up but it was no secret it was going to happen.
In fact I have no trust in our transfer policy and in fact in the last 18 months Kenny has bought in more poor players than Rafa did in his first 12 months for the money he has spent.
Thinking Adam could be our Alonso is the biggest mistake, it's obvious he was going to get sent off sooner rather than later, he is slow as fck and is tackling is shocking, a liablity.
