I know there are plenty on here who don't like him *cough cough Rosco* but I wish him well. He got a very rough deal from Rafa and it didn't get better when he returned to WHL, seemed to have lost all confidence. Great way to end his career, _sun, sea, girls and lots of cash to throw at them !

in hindsight , considering he never really regained top form since he left us , i'd say spurs came out alot worse in the whole keane mess . They paid a good £13m or so to buy him back and didn't get much in return .
I'm still amazed that nobody considered that a 29 year old Irish piss head might age badly and really quickly.
Rafa's best ever deal was selling him when he did. Thank god for Harry Redknapp - a man who spent nearly 50m on strikers who couldn't hit double figures between them in the league last year.

I doubt many of us on here share your specialised knowledge of the drinking habits of Irish footballers. 😉 What disappoints me is that the club didn't find out before signing him up.

Actually does anyone know the rules for MLS teams ...how many marquee players are they allowed ? And the what are the other player's wages capped at ?
I gather they have something similar in Australia ...does it really help develop the league or would they not be better allowing teams attract whoever they want ?

Right now Henderson and Carroll are the only real question marks ..Adam, downing, Rico, Suarez are looking good. So that's a 67% success rate for Kenny? Maybe more... I hate to say it, but that looks better than Rafa's...

Originally teams could only have one designated player and Landon Donovan was only grandfathered into the rule along with the two other players in the league whose salaries already exceeded 400,000. As of last year, the players are no longer grandfathered in and all teams recieve two DP spots but are able to pay some sort of tax that goes to the teams without a third DP for the third spot.
The Designated Player rule was created for Beckham, the grandfather rule was created so Donovan could stay, and the buyable third designated player spot was created so that teams like the Red Bulls and Galaxy couldn't trade DP spots with other teams and amass all of the marquee players

Damn straight, Adam is a top, top player and make no mistake, Downing is going to be great for us and I think Carroll is about to burst into life any moment, plus we already know Suarez is sheer quality!
