Skysports.com understands Liverpool have lined up a move for Galatasaray boss Frank Rijkaard as they search for a new manager.

The Reds are still hunting a replacement for Rafa Benitez following the Spaniard's departure from Anfield earlier this month.

A number of names have been linked with the Anfield hot-seat, including Fulham boss Roy Hodgson and former Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini and now Rijkaard has come under consideration from the Liverpool board.

Former Holland international Rijkaard is regarded as one of the best coaches in Europe following his success at Barcelona, where he won two Spanish titles and the UEFA Champions League during his tenure at Camp Nou.

Compensation

Sources in Turkey claim Liverpool have approached Galatasaray twice in the last week to seek permission to talk to Rijkaard, but that the Turkish club have rejected their overtures.

Rijkaard, who took over at Galatasaray in June 2009, has just a year to run on his current deal, meaning Liverpool may not have to fork out a high compensation fee if they can agree a deal with Galatasaray for the 47-year-old.

The Dutchman is believed to be keen on managing in the Premier League at some stage in his career, but Galatasaray are reluctant to lose his services.

Liverpool are keen to sort out their managerial situation as soon as possible and they could be forced look elsewhere if Galatasaray fail to release Rijkaard.

He's a cunt, I hope he comes nowhere near our club.

The match against Germany and his personal 'duel' against Voller was fucking disgusting. I still don't understand how Voller managed to not knock six shades of shit out of the cunt for that.

The impression I get of him is that he's an excellent manager with a great style of play and his players love him.

I'd be delighted if he took over.

I should think he's matured a bit since then. He'd certainly be an interesting appointment, but one that I'd expect would divide opinion.

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him, if only for the possibility of some sexy football at Anfield. I'd prefer Pellegrini or Dalglish though.

No thanks, especially not in times we need someone to steady and calm the mess our club has become. I think I'd actually prefer Hodgson at the moment.

In any dispute take the germans word for what happened... That will get you far in this world!!!

Would he get us playing good football? possibly

Would he bring in a couple of flare players? if he has a few bob to spend here n there.

Will our team be stable and consistent? questionable...

He would be calledd and arse, a looser and an idiot from day one. As anyone taking that position....

He has all the experience as a player and a manager. Plus he might persuade Robben to join us with the dutch connection 🙂

Agreed. Rijkaard has ability but IMO would not be a good fit for us.

Skysports will 'exclusively' reveal our interest in at least 25 managers before they get remotely close to the right one. Lazy gits who just sit in an office and make up stories.

I'd be tempted to take him if we had a decent transfer kitty and made him sign a contract stating that he would sell Babel to the first club to show any interest. If we have no money (and I don't count the money we will get for Masher because we will have to buy a like for like replacement) I'd prefer Kenny or even Pellegrini.

You have just made an incredibly xenophobic and more importantly an unbelievably rubbish statement, that is neither funny nor factual. Well Done!

Oh, for goodness' sake lighten up. It isn't as if he's called them all Nazis or anything.

Besides, Insignificance is a businessman and you'd be surprised how close to the literal truth his version is in European business nowadays.

One of my very close friends is a.......er nevermind.

I find it a lot easier to work with Germans. You'll excuse me if i don't take your word on this as the final verdict?

I'm not offended, but i don't see the necessity for that statement.

More importantly, coming back to the point and incident which called for that remark - Voller was as innocent as a player can be in a competitive football match. Rijkaard admitted guilt. Voller handled that situation with poise.
