Reina - 8 Didn't have much to do but he deserves it for THAT record, safe hands and a great throw for the third goal.
Johnson - 6.5 Good attacking play, reminded us a few times how shit he can be defensively.

Skrtel - 6.5 Decent enough, a few shakey moments
Konch - 6.5 Ditto
Lucas - 7.5 Bossed the midfield(!!), passed well, tackled well.
Ming - 7.5 Good stuff, great passing, makes it look easy
Maxi - 7.5 Good link up play and another good goal

N'Gog - 7 Hit and miss but a great finish to add to his impressive goal tally
Babel - 7.5 Good stuff, was tempted to give him another MOTM for the simple fact his pace and power (and the often not shown desire) was a constant thorn in the side of the Villa defence.

Though it says more about them than it does us, I think tonight was easier than West Ham.
 
Reina - ( 8 ) He had one bad pass which could have proved costly, but otherwise was his usual brilliant self. One great save from Idbonkawhore, some nice quick throws out which started many attacks and led to a goal

Konch - ( 7 ) Defended well and passed positively and accurately
Johnson ( 7 ) Assured, confident, defended well. Strong performance.
Greek ( 6 ) Didn't have much to do really.
Skrtel ( 6 ) Given a point because of the header for the goal, but again there wasn't much to do and he looked a bit dodgy at times.

Lucas ( 8 ) Great passing, nice assist, kept us ticking over.
Meireles ( 8 ) See above.
Kuyt - ( 3 ) Shite from start to finish.
Maxi ( 8 ) Involved in much of our good work, great finish

N'gog - ( 7 ) Nice goal, worked hard.
Babel ( 7 ) Nice to see him put in Premiership standard performances again. Not getting my hopes up though.

Houllier got a good round of applause and then once we were giving them a mighty good spanking he and Gary Mac got their songs sung.

It does feel like were doing our best to confuse young Dirk....bring him in as a goalscorer, vaunt him as the new Dalglish (ffs!), convert him into a RM, wiat 3 seasons until he is just about earning some plaudits as an energetic midfielder, try and play him back up front again, fail, move him back to right mid! Sheeesh.

Also, it feels like we have too many players that within the first two minutes you can tell whether theyre going to have a stinker all day - lack of character?

Lastly, I was assuming Our Roy would be rather dispirited by having to come out and face wave after wave of pro-houllier and Gary Mc songs, but doesnt sound like that happened.

Yeah, I wonder how well he got his gap filled by Ming after the match.

I thought it was between Ming, N'Gog and Maxi for MOM yesterday. Lucas and Babel also had good games and defense is hard to rate as Villa were so shit. Actually everyone is hard to rate as Villa were so shit.

I'm really starting to like Maxi. He's linking up very well in attack and this time took his chance as well. Of course he isn't good enough in the long term but our right wing is what worries me much more atm. Kuyt has been worryingly bad lately and it isn't just because he is played out of position. His passing and decision making have been horrible and he also looks way off the pace much too often. In a need of a rest perhaps?
 
I must be in the wrong because I don't agree with anyone's marks. I reckon Skrtel and The Greek were immense and looked solid throughout and a danger in the opposition box. Meireles bossed the game and was MOM.

Like I said in he match thread, he's underrated on here. For a young lad leading the line more often than not he's had a really promising season thus far.

If he was English the press would be collectively fawning over him.
 
Reina 10 - for his record breaking performance. He's the best sweeper we've had.
Babel 7.5 - well done Ryan we all knew you can, now follow it up.
All the others - 7.
Hodgson 8 - for reminding the lads not to concede a goal before half-time.
