So until we can get bought we are in fact a very ripe selling club. We do not have to sell obviously, only because our chairman says so, but 85M in debt repayments since 2007 and a massive increase in debt this year mean that in fact even if we do sell our two?three best players the current board will not, CAN NOT, guarantee that the money is released for players.

We are according to that picture not very far removed from being an epic Leeds like failure.

It is time somebody sought out and did some actual harm to messrs Hicks and Gillett.

Leeds spent plenty of money on shit players, banking on future European success which never transpired.

Whilst Rafa is eminently qualified to do that as well, he wont have that money to piss away.

Thats partly a good thing, because another few transfer windows from Rafa might bring your worst fears to life.

Benitez reveals 'positive' talks
Reds boss happy with Broughton meeting
Last updated: 9th May 2010

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has attempted to downplay fresh reports over his future by confirming chairman Martin Broughton is 'positive' about his work.

Speculation has been rife recently that Liverpool could replace their long-term manager following a season of disappointment on the back of last season's title challenge.

The club's finances have also been highlighted with talk that Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres could be sold to help service their huge debts.

However, Benitez says he is committed to the Merseysiders and that 'if' he stays that the likes of Gerrard and Torres will not be sold against his wishes.

The Spaniard does not believe Broughton is looking to cash in on their prized assets, although he fears his words will do little to quell the speculation.

Positive
"I was in a meeting with the chairman and he was talking about how positive it was and I expect to meet with him again in the next week," explained Benitez.

"I expect to see the chairman and keep talking with him. I showed my commitment for years (he has four years of his contract remaining).

"It would never be easy to leave this club. Every day you can read something different.

"It has always been the same situation. I decided to come here because of the fans and the club.

"I wanted to stay and I would like to stay if everything is fine.

"And IF I stay I am not thinking about selling Gerrard and Torres - just in case 'senior sources' say different things.

"It is very clear. The chairman was clear, he doesn't want to sell. The manager is clear, just in case you see any exclusive interviews with senior sources."

Rafael Benitez has today spoken of his desire to remain as Liverpool manager and insisted that "no-one" at the club wants to sell Fernando Torres or Steven Gerrard.

The boss revealed he has held positive talks with Chairman Martin Broughton and will hold another meeting with the Reds chief next week.

"I had a meeting with the chairman and it was positive," Benitez told his post match press conference at Hull City. "We will have another one this week and we will talk about the future again.

"I have shown my commitment for years, and if I stay I am not thinking about selling Gerrard or Torres. I do not want to sell them.

"The stability of the club is important because we need to move forward, we will have another meeting and hopefully we can progress."

He added: "Nobody wants to sell them (Gerrard and Torres). I think the Chairman was very clear."

Asked if he wanted to remain as Liverpool manager, Benitez said: "Yes, it is always the same situation. I have wanted to stay and I would like to stay."

God you're fucking dull.

"El Fatso"? Fuck me, that's just a masterstroke. And its not even yours...

On the contrary, often it appears that Benitez's problem is that he thinks *too* much, and often comes to the wrong conclusions

Also, he has totally excised all of the passion, spontaneity, emotion and, I dunno, *viscera* out of being a manager

Which is another big part of his problem
