Pre Match Pre Match - Real Madrid (H) - Weds 20:00

Have you seen the size of Tah?

He's tall but he doesn't look like that much of a unit. Rudiger is an absolute head case. I would quite enjoy pairing our head case up against him. I think Diaz being benched suggests he will be the one starting in the centre though.

I remember Ancelotti saying in 2022, that Klopp's team were easy to play against. Predictable was the word he used.

Just a reminder of what happens when we have a Right back who's not focused on marking v Real Madrid.. Love Trent, but haven't forgiven him for this yet.

We had 9 shots on target to their 1. On any other day we win that game, I wouldn’t look at that particular game as a case study as all our strikers had stinkers even excluding the attempts, it’s the other ones where I would focus on things to learn.
Curious to see how our new calmer style works on wed.

Real Madrid's travelling squad has no Vini, Rodrygo, Alaba, Militao, Carvaljal or Tchuoameni.

I have a feeling that Alisson will start.

Seems weird of me to say this but I also feel like this game could be the perfect game Nunez.
It's a dream fixture for the South Americans and they'll be up for it. Nunez will be terrorising their defenders.
Let Gakpo sit.

I'd go:

Alisson

Gomez
Konate
Van Dijk
Robbo

Gravy
Macca
Szobo

Salah
Nunez
Diaz
It’s a dream fixture for every player in world football.

I think it’s wild people want a sub-par team going out there at home against Madrid. We should want to tear them a new arsehole.
Once I posted that I want the latter it was clear everyone would want to rest players. 😉

Fuck that! It’s a huge game for our believe and our world wide brand. These opportunities don’t come around often.
We have to give it our absolute best shot.

Yeah I can see a good argument for Nunez, and he would relish being up against Rudiger. But if Slot thought that Diaz was the right person to play against Tah when we faced Leverkusen, he might do the same here.

I hope we smash them.
Nunez may relish being up against Rudiger, Rudiger is a very physical hands on player and I can see that whining up Nunez and him getting red carded

Hope we get a good ref that don’t tolerate their nonsense.
Kelleher, Bradley, Gomez, Virgil, Tsimikas if fit, Szoboslai, Gravenberg, MacAllister, Salah, Diaz, Gakpo.

I wouldn't be resting anyone. Confidence is a fragile beast and right now we're winning games playing poorly; we need to keep that run going, Especially in this run of games

Onwards into the horrible streak, but at least they are at home.

We go into this with a couple of key players somewhat rested, and morale boosted after that gritty display on a stormy day in Southampton.

We need to trade maximising chances to be top 8 vs best team to beat City on Sunday (who play tomorrow and have a day more rest). For me that means we rest Robbo and also rest Macca again. I would also like to see Nunez vs City therefore I would rest him for this.

Kelleher

Bradley / Gomez (i'd possibly go Gomez against Vinicius tbh)
Konate
Virgil
Tsimikas

Gravy
Jones
Szobo

Salah
Diaz
Gakpo

For me rested Robbo & Macca are imperative for City and i'd risk a slightly weakened team here for it.
I don't think vinicius jr has travelled.

Ancellotis talking out of his arse. Never got over Istanbul.
Probably, but equally he's not wrong. A well drilled side against a klopp team usually got a bit of joy. Madrid in particular got the better of us many times

Danns, McConnell and some other kid there too, but not training with the "big boys".

Edit, Danns and McConnell just joined them. Doing some kind of Rondo exercise now.

Wrong thread but...

Match Officials for Liverpool v Man City: Chris Kavanagh as referee and Paul Tierney on VAR.

Btw, Kavanagh is from Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester.
So we have to beat City and the refs on Sunday

Trent will be in the squad but wont start. Same with Elliott. Jota, Alisson, Kostas and Chiesa out.
Chiesa is back in training though.

Slot is really impressive in these press conferences. Calm, funny, assertive, confident and always says the right things.

He shouldnt be the one answering the contract questions every week, but he does so in great manner.
Not bothered by Salahs comments and his performances speaks for themselves.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Or close the wall up with our Chiesa dead.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage;
Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;
Let pry through the portage of the head
Like the brass cannon; let the brow o'erwhelm it
As fearfully as doth a galled rock
O'erhang and jutty his confounded base,
Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean.
Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide,
Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit
To his full height. On, on, you noblest English.
Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof!
Fathers that, like so many Gerrards,
Have in these parts from morn till even fought
And sheathed their swords for lack of argument:
Dishonour not your mothers; now attest
That those whom you call'd fathers did beget you.
Be copy now to men of grosser blood,
And teach them how to war. And you, good Diaz,
Whose limbs were made in Barrancas, show us here
The mettle of your pasture; let us swear
That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;
For there is none of you so mean and base,
That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'Fowler for Salah, Liverpool, and St John!'

Bored in work and nervous as fuck about this. Probably going to miss the first half
