We go into this with a couple of key players somewhat rested, and morale boosted after that gritty display on a stormy day in Southampton.

We need to trade maximising chances to be top 8 vs best team to beat City on Sunday (who play tomorrow and have a day more rest). For me that means we rest Robbo and also rest Macca again. I would also like to see Nunez vs City therefore I would rest him for this.

Yeah its a nice problem to have as we have 4 midfielders for 3 spots. In reality Jones & Szobo should be competing for the AM slot as we need.

If all 4 were fit and in form i'd have Grav,Macca,Jones against Madrid and Grav,Macca,Szobo against City.

Szobo better when we either expect to have many counter attacks, or a team that plays out from the back. No brainer against City. I'd have Jones at AM against Madrid - but I just think Macca needs another rest.

Slot has kind of suggested he doesn't see Jones' strength as part of the double pivot - I suspect Macca was rested against Saints partly due to the impending suspension for another yellow.

I don't want to play Bradley against their attacking options. If he plays then he has to be defensive-minded. If Slot deems Ali ready then he should go straight in. If Tsimi is out then Robbo goes again.

Nunez scored a brilliant goal against them, but he looked sluggish against Southampton. Szobo looked fucked at the end, too, so I'd bring them off the bench. Real Madrid won't be phased by Anfield, so it'll come down to the players delivering and giving everything.
