This feels must win to me now. I’m pretty down in the dumps still after that brainless performance against a very poor Villa side.

We’ve run some players into the ground and who knows what our line up will be

Ali

Trent
Konate
Virgil
Tsimikas

Gravy
Endo
Szobo

Salah
Jota
Diaz

Hopefully Gakpo is back on the bench.

Endo and Tsimikas won’t play. I think Gakpo starts with Diaz as the 9.
Unfortunately I think so too. I can't see him playing Jota again from the start, but then he did take him off early so you never know. Either way, hopefully Gapko is back and fit. Robbo definitely shouldn't start and Trent will inevitably get ripped everywhere.

Honestly I'd half rather play gakpo at the 9. A failed klopp experiment, sure, but the Diaz one isn't much better. At least gakpo can finish

I honestly think we'll beat Man C.
It's typical us. Drop points against shite, win when it seems impossible.
Beat city, struggle against Newcastle but get it over the line, lose against Southampton

The thing about the villa game, which is crucial, is that we were gifted 2 goals. Brainfart for the first one and huge deflection for the second. We once again didn't test the keeper consistently (Nunez miss aside).

We're not creating decent chances. Our midfield is ideologically bereft. Trent is more focused on cross field passes than incisive ones. Robbo looks lost. Diaz isn't creative for anyone else. Salah is out of form but thankfully papering over the huge cracks in our play. Less said about our 9s the better.

Someone needs to step up and I genuinely don't know who it is going to be.

Slot says that Gomez had surgery and could be out for the season.
No real update on Bradley. Slot doesn't expect him to be involved against Man C and Newcastle.

Talking about being careful with Jota and Trent because of their recent injuries.

I think it'll be:

------------------Ali
--Trent--Konate--VVD----Robertson/Tsimi
-----------------Grav--
------Szobo-----------Jones
---Salah------Jota-----------Diaz--

Mac and Gakpo off the bench, hopefully. It'll be another lottery game where you have spaffs the least chances takes it. Neither of us are good enough right now to fully control it.

This is why we need Gakpo back in the team asap because he's the likeliest one to start chipping in. He can have games where he's not really involved but can still be counted on to get on the end of something

Slot not sure if Gakpo will be ready, he'll see if he can train today.
Really want Gakpo to start this game. I don't trust Diaz and Nunez. They should be on the bench for the rest of the season until they're sold in the summer.

I'm ok with Diaz starting 1 in 3 as long as it's on the left. Nunez could get a season ending injury and I wouldn't care tho

Ali

Trent
Ibou
VVD
Kostas
Macca
Gravy
Dom
Salah
Diaz
Jota

I can see City beating us comfortably so hopefully I’m completely wrong.

At this stage our greatest hope is Arsenal failing to take advantage of our drop off.

Come on its not that hard to guess, barring injury Slot never fails to play the same 7-8. Fatigue and form be damned. Ali, Virg, Ibou, Grav, Macca, Szob, Salah, Gakpo plus Extras No. 1, 2, 3 & 4.
Trent at RB because he doesn't have any real option there even if he wanted one. And he usually starts Trent anyway. Though it IS possible Jones could start in place of someone (forward or Macca)?

That is so wrong mate. Szobo 1 on 1, Szobo across goal, Nunez x 2, Jota hitting the bar, Jota's horrendous shot across goal, VvD blasting one skywards, Mo's header - and so on. We created plenty and the xG of 2.44 shows we should have scored more. We should have walked that game TBH.

He started Jota though so I guess he means he's just managing minutes. Both Jota and Trent to start. Jota is due a goal or two !

Even if he's passed fit to play I can't see him starting. We don't do that. Diaz - Jota - Salah and Gakpo to come on after 70 mins.

The team virtually picks itself with 2 variations depending on whether you believe Slot will pack the midfield again or revert to 4-3-3.

Ali, Trent, Konate, VdD and I think Tsimi over a tired Robbo.
Gravy, Macca & Szobo are givens.
Then it's either Jones (who played well vs Villa and gives us more possession/control) Jota and Mo. or Diaz-Jota-Mo.

A lot of chances doesn't equate to decent chances. The 2 decent chances we had (Nunez and szob) yeah, we should have scored, but neither of those players are clinical or confident. The other chances were half chances at best. Jota hitting the bar was a speculative low xg shot. Vvds effort was low xg. Most of them were

If your xg is 2.5 from 17 attempts, then that's poor quality chance creation.
