Wins at the San Siro & Old Trafford for Slotball, but we need to bounce back with a win in the league.

Can we expect same team as Forest? Almost certainly. I thought Gakpo did well, but Diaz & Mo are both in form.

Salah
Jota

These are gonna be a much sterner test than what Milan were.

No midweek fixture for them to contend with so we get to see another side to the Arne era in how we deal with 3 games in 7 days.

Robbo and Diaz back in and Jota to make way for literally anyone.

Nunez has done nothing to suggest he should start ahead of Jota. There is a case for Gakpo to start now. Both our left wingers looks to be in great shape and form.
Robbo to come in for Tsimikas.

Jota needs a rest, he isn't use to playing this many games back-to-back. Play Gakpo on the LW and Diaz through the middle. Slot needs to workout how to defeat the low block. We need better set pieces, and take some shots outside the box. If Tsimikas plays the donkey shouldn't be allowed to shoot unless there is no choice.

I'd expect the same, although it wouldn't be surprising if he started Nunez of even Gakpo at nine.

Jota is looking flat lately. Needs to up his game it he's to be one of Slots automatic starters.
Yeah Jota needs dropping. Posters here are always going on about playing inform players and dropping those that don't. Well here it is.

Gakpo was superb yesterday and he deserves a start even if only at 9.

Give all those above a breather against West Ham.

Nope Jota continues.
Seems like everyone has forgotten how Gakpo looked playing up front. He himself have said that he feels more comfortable playing on left wing.
Jota hasn't scored, but it's coming. Especially if the fucker playing on the RW passes him the ball. He still makes the right runs, the right passes and our attack looks a whole lot better than it does without him.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Salah central and Chiesa right once Chiesa is fit.

Also strong argument that Diaz is great on the right and Gakpo - Salah - Diaz could work.

Anyway Jota will start.

Jota’s one of those players that will have a few quiet games, then suddenly smash 6 goals in 4 games…

… or spend 4 months injured.

I’d stick with Jota up front - Donkey can get a run around the field in the League Cup.

Not in this set up he won't. He's not good enough as the lone forward to occupy 2 defenders as well as getting.....6 goals in 4 games, which I'm pretty sure he's never done in his career anyway.

Gakpos performance warrants a start but Diaz is also looking fit and sharp. We have already seen Slots aversion to rotation and therefore I suspect he also does not want to interchange positions too much. If that's right then Gakpo is unlikely to be shoehorned into the side. He will likely find that frustrating but having a long term settled position should give him a platform to develop and grow. His versatility has been to his detriment at times, particularly last year when Klopp was trying some extremely experimental midfields.

It's a cliche but having two left wingers that are fit and in form is a privilege and by no means a problem.

Start Nunez. Give the cunt a chance to do something as jotas failing ATM. Id also like to reward gakpo for that performance last night, so I'm not hugely opposed to a gakpo, Nunez, Salah front 3. Least then we've got players like Diaz and Jota to come on and exploit tired legs if needed.

Midfield picks itself unfortunately. Only possible change is rest Macca and bring in Curtis.

Back 5 is the standard back 5 for me.

We know it's going to be the team that started against forest though

Yeah he isn't going to change shit

I’m putting the Forrest game down to the international fixtures and we’ll batter Bournemouth.
Yes, also because Bournemouth don't sit back.
Nuno had Forest playing like Pulis's Stoke. What annoyed me is that I'm a fucking armchair supporter and even I saw it coming.

darwin did score a cracker coming in from the left against them a while back didn’t he? still no interest in seeing him start though if i’m honest

diaz fan here but i think we need to keep him fresh, start for gakkers please after that midweek performance

robbo back in and hopefully we get the opportunity to manage some minutes on the hour

Bit harsh on Darwin… but I’m glad you’re finally seeing the light.

I think Jota should be dropped because like anything fragile, it's could break at any moment now. I want to know if Slot can overcome the low block, we have quite a few players over 6ft so we have to make use of set plays more.

I'm one of his biggest fans, but even I think he's been pretty awful so far. That said, it takes him a bit of time to get in full flow, then we get a good half a dozen games out of him before he inevitably gets injured. I think the best thing going for him is that Darwin has been bloody awful too.

Darwins been bad but in like a 5th of the minutes jotas got. Don't get me wrong, Jota should start as he's our best consistent finisher; but he's been fucking woeful. I kind of want a manager to come in and lay down a "if you play poorly, you're dropped" mentality. If 90% of the squad know they'll start regardless of form, there's nearly zero incentive to perform.

This also works against the squad players too - there's no incentive for them if they know the starting lineup regardless of how those starting players performed the previous week.

I guess it also depends on how many times Nunez is offside in training
