Seems like a consequential decision is looming in attack for Slot. Does he stick with the front 3 that started the season, even though Jota’s form has shown signs of decline and Gakpo made a strong case for himself in the Champions League game? Will Darwin finally get a chance?

You can make a case for continuity, but also given how toothless the attack looked against Forest, an equally strong case for shaking things up. This is where the manager needs to earn his stripes in making the optimal decision.

Is there a case for trying Diaz on the right and Salah more central?

No, not unless we’re desperate, I think. We have two fit and ready centre-forwards; surely the manager’s task is first of all to try to make it work with them before trying anything exotic.

Agreed, and it wasnt really impressive what he showed there in pre season.

That said it doesnt look good for Nunez so far. We desperatly need a new striker next summer. Really hope we go for Sesko.

At the end of Milan game, Slot mentioned he would have started Gakpo on the left apparently. Diaz is going to have to be a lot more consistent this year to keep his place.

So in conclusion, might see Irish Kev in goal but other than that, same team as usual.

So much for all the talk about Slot not enjoying or can handle playing against a low block then..

Arne Slot on tactics: "I prefer to play against a low block as you have the ball a lot and the other team are far from your goal. "

Arne really hasn't watched much of the Prem at all has he 🤣

You can have 10 men in your defensive third, and 10 seconds later you're bearing down on their goal......I mean isn't that what happened at Forest? They wait and wait until they see a moment to pounce, as long as we don't overcommit and leave ourselves exposed as we did so often last season.

Tbf he's not gonna say he's shit at it like. So far forest is our only evidence in red or how we play under him against a low block. Didn't end well

A chance for Núñez to find rhythm?

Defeat to Nottingham Forest in their most recent Premier League match upset Arne Slot and his team because Liverpool were simply not good enough on the day. They bounced back in Milan having made a couple of changes from their previous three matches, bringing in Kostas Tsimikas and Cody Gakpo. Slot seems eager to play his strongest XI as much as possible but is quickly realising that the pace of English football and the demands of the calendar will reduce the opportunity to stick with his preferred option. Darwin Núñez made his fourth substitute appearance of the season in Italy but will want to show Slot he can start at No 9 and could get two games in a week with West Ham visiting in the Carabao Cup next Wednesday. The Uruguayan is the sort of player who needs consistent minutes, rather than repeatedly coming off the bench. He is at his best when there is a rhythm to his game and finding it could be a win-win situation for Slot. Will Unwin

Yeah, but thats like expecting that there aren't gonna be any hiccups under a new manager and that we'll win every game possible. Both were never gonna happen.

Yeah, he got consistent minutes last season...
How about he just scores a goal or two. I mean how about that? Is that too much of an ask?

I'm under no illusions over the forest game. I said at the time that I wasn't blaming slot for it. It's more the attitude "I prefer a low block" and it's clear in the 1 game he's faced it didn't end well and the subs weren't it.

Referee: Tony Harrington. Assistants: Marc Perry, Derek Eaton. Fourth official: Bobby Madley. VAR: Graham Scott. Assistant VAR: Sian Massey-Ellis.

He got 11 goals and 8 assists in 36 appearances in the Premier League in 2023-24. Convert that into minutes played and it looks very decent.

TBF it's not how many he scored that was most people's issue - it's how many opportunities he missed. The question is would he have as many opportunities in games under Slot? As in, did he create many of them himself last season?

The last goal he scored for us was against Sheffield in the beginning of April.
He's been involved in 14 games since then. Guess how many goals he scored?

Well, part of getting opportunities is making the right runs and being in the right position. He's not.

Bournemouth:

New striker yet to score yet
Tavarier most xG of any midfielder
Kepa in goal
Were 2-0 to the blueshite

Can’t see us failing to score in this one.
