Yeah it's over.
Everton have nothing to play for.
We were bereft of ideas from about the 20th minute.
Great season but we fell short because of our squad.
Reduced to bringing on that Spanish spoofer was the final nail in the coffin.

Whoa, stop.

Everton can still clinch 4th, can't they?

Everton don't have "nothing" to play for - the Arse are fragile enough to drop enough points to let them in. Even if they think they're out of it, teams who aren't under any pressure sometimes play their best stuff.

No way is it over yet.

I remember his impact on the game (1 positive, 1 overwhelmingly negative). Lucas offered fuck all in attack and defence

Of course. I was just being a repetitive cunt there and wanted to point out how shit he is.

Arsenal can have 4th wrapped up before Everton even play City, apparently. It's done.

If there was one thing I'd be inclined to blame Rodgers for it was bringing that fucking waster on. Completely fucking pointless. Luis Alberto at least has quality and guile, he'd have been much better. Young Jack Dunn was rumoured to be in the squad: he should have been. He's passionate, can score goals, and has a brilliant left foot. He's have been better. A fucking long shot but still better.
Yep believe it or not I wanted to see Alberto from very early in the game.
Playing Lucas in an advanced role was pointless too and what we lacked was guile and a level head.
That corner from Aspas was embarrassing to the point where I just walked out of the room and thankfully missed the second goal.
He's a waste of space.

But fuckups can happen in every game, and do; we've frequently fucked up at the back this season so we actually do have to legislate for it in a general sense. My point was, perhaps if we'd sat back ourselves and not gone on the attack like we normally do we might have altered the pattern of the game earlier.

It wouldn't have yielded anything. No way could an experienced and organised team like that been tricked into leaving loads of space to attack. It just would've been a non-event and ceded any chance we had of unsettling them with a fast start. Just because it didn't work doesn't mean it wasn't our best chance.

that game really highlighted how we still lack squad strength . We're missing two players from our starting lineup and the next highest quality players are both midfielders .And putting them both in doesn't seem to work, especially in lucas's case . He doesn't seem to have the legs ,mobility or skill to play that type of midfield role . We need at least one more quality midfielder and striker .

No it bastard isn't. They've got to do it yet, and they're well wussy enough to fail.

It would be a massive twist if we won it now. We still have a tough game at Palace, too. They'll win it. I just hope it's not on goal difference. I don't think my little heart could take it.

Chelsea came and were happy to sit back. It was all set up for a draw at worst.

To gift them a goal just fucked everything up. We became desperate reducing ourselves to longshots and aimless crosses.

Mourinho had no master plan. It was a game we didn't need to win and neither did Chelsea. Gerrard's error changed everything.

So after today City have Everton away, and home games against Villa then West Ham.

It's all down to Everton to do a favour. If we can win our games.

I want to believe that but Arsenal always seem to do enough to get 4th and I'd be amazed if they don't win the next 2 that they've got.

Fark nailed it. What we needed today was an extra bit of quality at the full-back questions, and some quality to bring off the bench. We couldn't have done anything with what we had.

One thing I wish we'd tried was playing the ball to Suarez with his back to goal outside the box, and tried and won a free kick. But those cunts were very careful in not touching any of our players today.

If Everton don't cause City to drop points, there's still a very, very, very small chance that a Villa side trying to escape being dragged into a relegation fight on the last week could upset City in their penultimate game. Very minute chance of course, especially since City are at home where they've only dropped points twice this season. The consolation here is that Villa did beat City earlier this season (3-2 at Villa Park).

Hopefully it won't have to come to that.

Oh so the City Everton game is on before Arsenal and West Brom?I thought it was a 1.30 kick off.

If Sunderland can draw there, so can Villa. And Sunderland should have won.

Outsmart?

With all due respect, but this is shite, mate.

I don't know what else to point to. We attacked in the same way we have for months. Rodgers said we would, and we did. Mourinho set up his team to thwart that. He succeeded where the last 25(?) managers failed. So either that was luck, or their plan was rehearsed and refined and delivered exactly how they intended. We've all seen it before from Chelsea, so I'm wondering why we didn't see any variation in our normal approach in a match we didn't need to win.
