Post Madness - Norwich

He's always had a weakness in the air but was very decent when Klopp first arrived. Since coming back from injury though, he's been terrible.
There it is. What's the point in having a defender that can't head the ball?

Glad Lallana got a goal and an assist.

Also good to hear people saying we look much better attacking with him on

He's like Riera in that they don't seem to contribute much directly apart from lots of hard work. Yet the team is better when they are in the team.

Riera had no pace and a good touch too.

Sakho struggles to stay on his feet. He finds himself way too often on his arse.
Add this to his high rate of stupid mistakes and to his weakness in the air, and these in a nutshell the reasons he's not good enough for us.

His movement vs Man City was excellent. His off the ball work is tremendous. He needs to add to more productivity on the ball. Today was an excellent start.

The problem with our defenders in the air is a lack of aggression. You have to attack the ball. And too often our defenders lose out in the air because they don't jump for the ball. far too passive

I like Lallana but I can understand the frustration at him, he does contribute indirectly alot of the time, which is great, but statistically less so. If we want to push on, then the front three needs to have goals in it. If we got Tex and Sturridge was fit, then it would be those two and Firmino, with Coutinho spear heading the midfield, rightly so. Goals, movement and creativity.

Could be quiffing here but how shit was Benteke's offside to give them the free kick for their 4th goal? It was incredibly lazy to be caught like that. Milner is 30 yards away passing it, Benteke is fresh, just keep your line, keep onside then off to the corner with the ball.

The whole team is far too passive. We need players that believe in their ability and then play to it.

There's no bite to this set of players.

I'd keep Moreno as a winger. The rest can fcuk off.

I'm talking about centrebacks actually. 😀 But yeah, Moreno does my head in too. I mean, I like him - he looks like a really fun chap, is improved this season, and it's not like he isn't trying. He just is a bit stupid. I think Klopp finds him really lovable and huggable, but he's probably feeling like tearing the cotton out of him and stuffing him with cement at times.

His place will be threatened once Flanagan is fully match fit. I'd keep Moreno on as his pace is useful to defend the break, especially when our shit corners lead to quick counter attacks. But he needs to kick up a notch with his awareness.

Maybe a better left-sided CB would also help him by shouting in his ear constantly to keep him on his toes.

He'll be gone in the summer.

People just don't appreciate lallanas off the ball movement. It's that movement which opens up a defence as much as a great pass does.
Yep, he deserves a lot of plaudits he never gets for his selfless play and hard working, the difference between himself and someone like Ibe in that regard is night and day, however he also deserves the large amounts of criticism he gets for his lack of goals, and even assists. I hope his goal and assist can serve as a platform for him to improve in this regard because I really like Lallana as a player, however if he doesn't improve in this area, his position becomes untenable.

Yeah. This was frustrating. So many of our goals conceded this year (and previous) you can look back to poor decisions several steps before the ball hits the net.

I love watching Lallana. The primary reason he doesn't work in our team most of the time is the lack of goals elsewhere. If he was in a free scoring team I think we'd be creaming ourselves over him. Of our many non-scoring attackers, some need to be replaced with goals. Whether Lallana will survive that cull remains to be seen but I definitely feel he enhances our play.

He'll be here next season. Klopp clearly rates attributes other than goals or assists.

The sheer awfulness of much of our play equalled the crazy delight of the win, so I'm left feeling nothing. Just dazed.
