We've just won 4-0 in a derby, and a few posters want to wax lyrical about Barkley being on the verge of greatness.

Go and watch a few of Gerrard's early derbies, between stamping his mark on Kevin Campbell's groin and burying a fucking screamer at Goodison. THAT is the verge of greatness, not spraying a few nice balls around the park.

I thought Miralles was brilliant, but he's a horrible, horrible cunt, so he doesn't get much from me either.

And Cissokho, while still comically erratic, was far from "diabolical", he put in a shift like the rest and defended well, so deserves whatever plaudits come his way, from those who aren't that full of an agenda.

liverpool fans have a tradition of praising talented players when they see it, Barkley sadly is on that trajectory, but that shouldn't detract from an incredible performance.

mate - talk of agendas is rich coming from you re: Glenjo. can't we leave the backchat out of it and just enjoy a brill performance? YNWA.

The most encouraging thing about this is Liverpool's capacity to switch up a gear for the big matches, and especially at Anfield. I think our rope-a-dope strategy in this game is a template for how to punish the likes of Arsenal at home. I'd fancy us breaking like that against Arsenal and the other top teams still to come to us.

Yup, I said it earlier in this thread. None of them will fancy coming to us, and for good reason.

I hate Cissokho but he had a decent game tonight.
Defensively he was terrific but of course we need better.

I don't think he was terrific defensively at all ! Often we had players going across to help save his ass (or cover the empty space) and he was skinned a couple of times. We could make an hilarious YouTube of at least 3 or was it 4 attempted passes/clearances that God only knows how they ended up where they did !

I did like that he didn't make one attempted cross or shot and off-loaded the ball as quick as possible, but kept himself available, orders no doubt.

As an aside. I dont have BT. So I arranged to meet Dave, you know Dave? in the pub.
He text me just before to apologise and say he couldnt make it.
I did think about going home and radio for the match, but thought fuck it, they had a rebellion brewery tap and I was already there, so I stopped on and even though Dave let me down AGAIN on this im glad I stayed.
The thirty or forty patrons in the bar werent though, sitting through 2 hours of me windmilling my cock around over near the pooltable.

I agree regarding Cissokho but his technique on the ball is really shocking for a top level footballer.

Even the simple passes that came off were all mishit.

He's painful to watch, and simply not good enough for us.

That said, he does really try his best and he seems like a real nice bloke and popular with his team-mates.

We set ourselves up perfectly there tonight, we got Sterling and Sturridge to tuck inside to give us the extra bodies in midfield, while Suarez picked them off by prodding and never giving them a moment to settle. Gerrard and Henderson belied recent criticism that they weren't competitive or disciplined enough, they kept it tight against an industrious and tenacious Everton midfield and were first to everything, Gerrard was always putting a boot in and put his stamp on Barkley from the off, to prevent him getting the upper hand.

Skrtel was a marshal at the back, holding it all together and putting in an experienced performance and being a real calming influence on the ball. Flano gave us exactly what we've lacked, that willingness to drop inside and tighten the backline, pushing it closer together when we were on the defensive.

We let them have the ball, put banks of bodies infront of the backline and broke with precision and directness that they couldn't handle. Barry and McCarthy were both harrassed throughout and it stopped their two calming influences in the middle of the park from being able to dictate their play and give them a platform to build from, we cut off that link between defence and midfield, midfield and the forward line, and it completely broke their rhythm.

Brilliant performance.

I hope Brendan enjoyed it more than he seemed to. He looked strangely subdued in the presser afterwards. Maybe he was just shattered, or peed off with the lack of signings, but he ought to savour these moments. He's done really well.

I thought he diffused the sturridge situation very well. journo looking for a cheeky angle to taint our victory and he swatted it away - interviewer couldn't mention sturridge apologising.

Outstanding performance!! Every player worked their bollocks off and with Sterling, Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez on the pitch we're always gonna do teams damage.

That'll shut the Blueshite up for a bit!!

Well in Redmen!!!

Yeah, but I meant more in the proper press conference afterwards. I imagine he's just tired.

Can't really remember him getting skimmed that often tbh.
My stream was wank though so maybe I missed it.
I thought his positioning improved ten fold tonight.
He also was somewhat assured in the tackle(which is probably his best asset tbf).
It was a massive improvement on what we've all seen from him and that's all you can ask for really.

Yeah he did. And at the end of the game he fucked up a pass(again lol) and cursed himself...seems like he really wants to do well...not just pick up the wages and then fuck off when his loan's up.
I meant Mr Rodgers, but im sure whoever youre talking about was boss too.

ahh, ok. missed that. did he come out with any transfer hints?

Well, he said he wasn't angry with the owners and he said 'hopefully' we'll sign someone, which he then called 'a major signing', in the next two days. I should add he said this whilst sounding very downbeat,so it was a bit confusing, but that's what he said.

I'm seething that Motd isn't on.
I so want to see that jug eared smarmy pricks face as he watches the goals.

Furthermore.
Miralles and Barkley are excellent players.
I would like them either to sign for us, or to lose a leg each.

Try and catch Studge's interview with LFCTV that he did after the match. Very endearing, laughing at himself.
