Players out thread

The transfer season always brings a lot of internal conflict for me.

Agger and Lucas have the attitudes we wish for in our favourite players. No one mentions the hypocrisy of crying about lack of loyalty from Suarez and Torres and Mascher, while simultaneously waving away players who love our club because they 'aren't good enough'.

At their best, they are both great footballers. Of course they have had plenty of time to find consistency but for various reasons both seem to now be past their best.

I wonder how much the club tests the affinity and comfort of players like them. I think they should both be on the market and if a decent enough offer comes in we should give them the choice of going or accepting a reduced role in the squad and a wage cut that reflects it.

They are, I'm far from Lucas' number one fan, but he's worthy of being in the squad. Perhaps it now feels like it's time for him to move on, but he's an integral part of the dressing room, a nice lad and a good honest pro (soz for the cliche). Agger, despite my constant defending of others against Modo, KHL etc in contrast, is a good player I'll personally be sorry to see go. I think there's much of a muchness about our centre halves, they're all "decent", but he's got the right attitude mostly (like Skrtel) and wears his heart on his sleeve. I hope he stays.

That's because he's only got enough free flesh for a tattoo that says 'FIDDLE'. He couldn't even fit in '2nd FIDDLE' let alone 'SECOND FIDDLE'.

Lovren is better
He may well be better, but Agger was right for our defence and added calm and composure. Alas, it wasn't meant to be which is sad.

His inclusion against Newcastle made a massive difference.

In hindsight I think many would go back and change the line up after the Norwich game.

Yaaaaay - you're back!

Agger's interview with Danish press:
[article]Liverpool's Daniel Agger has voiced his frustration at failing to nail down a regular starting place under Brendan Rodgers this season.

While Rodgers' men challenged for the Premier League title, Agger was often overlooked for a starting spot in favour of Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel, having also suffered with injuries.

With the Denmark international having previously stated his intention to ignore speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona, Agger revealed his frustration, stating Rodgers did not feel he was "good enough".

He stopped short of confirming any plans to leave Anfield but warned he would not be content to be a substitute next season.

Asked about being benched for the crucial late fixtures against Chelsea and Manchester City, he told Ekstra Bladet: "It definitely wasn't great. But I don't make the decisions. I think it is because the manager doesn't think that I'm good enough.

"(My future at Liverpool is) up to the manager. I can't go and put myself on the team sheet.

"I'm no-one's third choice."

Agger moved to Liverpool in 2006 from Brondby and has made 232 appearances during his time with the club - winning the FA Cup and the League Cup.[/article]

[article=http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/stoke-hope-keep-oussama-asaidi-3569935#ixzz32ELlEsLb ]Mark Hughes hopes Liverpool's Champions League qualification will boost his chances of signing Oussama Assaidi.

Hughes is keen to make Assaidi's loan move from Liverpool permanent this summer and feels the Moroccan winger did well last season.

The Stoke boss reckons Assaidi, who has not started a single Premier League game for the Reds, could be squeezed out at Anfield if Brendan Rodgers spends big this summer to strengthen his squad.

"The ball is very much in Liverpool's court because he is their player and I'm not saying I know what they are thinking," Hughes told the Stoke Sentinel.

"But I would imagine that being in the Champions League, they will spend more money this summer and that could go against Ossie having a place there.

"He is their player and we mustn't forget that, but yes, we are hopeful of keeping him here.

"It's fair to say that he's enjoyed his time with us and we have enjoyed having him here."

Assaidi, 25, cost Liverpool £2.4million from Heerenveen in 2012 and Stoke hope to land him for between £3million and £4million.[/article]

Martin has been really unfortunate," Rodgers told Liverpoolfc.com. "He was out for a year, he came back this season and at the beginning of the season we put him into some games.

"But as the season wore on and we were concentrating on one game a week, it was very difficult for him to get games.

"He's a quality player and he's a good guy as well - he knows the club inside out. He's been around for a long time and the game against Shamrock Rovers was his first game for a number of months.

"He played at centre-half, as opposed to right-back, where he has played a lot. He's a good guy and there will be games next year for the likes of him to come and play in if we continue to qualify in the competitions."

If someone puts in a decent offer for him he'll most certainly be allowed to leave. Brendan will never say that he's not in his plans or say anything dismissive about Kelly in the press that's just bad business. It's quite evident that he's a goner. If he does stay it'll probably be because no one has made an offer for him.
It's weird though, going from Euro squad to the reserves in two years.

Hardly anyone's going to come in to buy him given the time he's actually kicked a ball these two seasons due to his injuries. The best thing for him and the club is probably to send him out on a season long loan so he can have a good chance at playing regularly to restart his career.

Last year, he signed a new contract which runs till the end of June 2017. If he has a good season out on loan, we'll either get a better player back, or we'll be able to sell him for a better price than we can get now.

He'd be a great poker player, Kelly, his face is so impassive. He was such a great prospect but he's not been right since his last injury. Very sad.

Agreed he was about to become a favourite. I loved how he bombed down the right flank. Just isn't built to do that type of running it seems.

Kelly needs game time but a loan deal will suit us all. If Hyppia gets the Norwich job, that would be a great place for him

In these days of sports science and ultra-detailed monitoring of young players it's amazing what terrible posture he has. He runs like Shaggy looking for Scooby Doo.

Are you purposively being obtuse?

It's not about being right or wrong Modo, it's the delivery and execution of your 'opinions'.

Let me reiterate, I'm a big Agger fan. I would play him too. However, you're defense of Agger is equivalent to that of ten year old wallowing in self pity though. It's so unfair..... we would have won the league if he played etc etc. Defend Agger by all means, he needs it. A few have the pitch forks out for him. But you have to accept that you are infuriating people due to your methods of defending him and some suspect you are well aware of the fact you are doing it too.

OK, so what you're telling it's not about being wrong or right but it's wrong of me to say that I believe that we would have won the league if Agger played, because that somehow is childish?

How many on here have previously said that we should have signed X and Y and that they would have improved us, was that childish as well?

The thing is, I'm consistent with regarding Agger and him being in the starting line up. What Carra and Neville said mirrored something I said months ago. So it was never a kneejerk reaction
.
During all this time I've heard about how strong Sakho is, how fearless he is, how good he is on the ball, in the air, how great his tackles are and at the same time, Agger is weak, poor in the air, slow, can't mark, can't tackle, Danish and pretty much useless etc.

So before the West Ham game, people on here made Carroll look like Drogba. "We have to play Sakho, they said". Cause he's a monster in the air. If I remember it correctly he lost most his aerial duels in that game. But of course Agger is worse than Sakho in the air and the stats prove it which they don't.

I say Agger is better on the ball and has better ball control than Sakho and the stats prove me wrong but Sakho is still better than Agger in the air.

This is my issue with the whole Agger thing. It's just an undeserved amount criticism towards him. Even the stat that proves that we concede less goals with him on the pitch is questioned, but with regards to Sakho's ball control he's a regular maradona with the ball compared to Agger.

You didnt say "you believe".

This has been done to death, seriously, everyone just drop it and move on now. The other thread got locked, you've just shown that you clearly rile everyone with an OTT comment and then backtrack, claiming it to have been a mere opinion. It wasn't expressed that way originally at all, quit with the pretence bollocks and leave the subject alone.

WHAT! "you believe?" Who the fuck else am I writing for?

You didnt say, "I think", you posted it (as per) factually.

Like you don't know that though.

You keep dragging up the Agger stats, yet the Sakho one warrants a snide comment like the one above. And people actually defend this shite from you, poor the Modo.

Seriously like I said. DROP IT.

It most certainly does.
