The transfer season always brings a lot of internal conflict for me.
Agger and Lucas have the attitudes we wish for in our favourite players. No one mentions the hypocrisy of crying about lack of loyalty from Suarez and Torres and Mascher, while simultaneously waving away players who love our club because they 'aren't good enough'.
At their best, they are both great footballers. Of course they have had plenty of time to find consistency but for various reasons both seem to now be past their best.
I wonder how much the club tests the affinity and comfort of players like them. I think they should both be on the market and if a decent enough offer comes in we should give them the choice of going or accepting a reduced role in the squad and a wage cut that reflects it.
They are, I'm far from Lucas' number one fan, but he's worthy of being in the squad. Perhaps it now feels like it's time for him to move on, but he's an integral part of the dressing room, a nice lad and a good honest pro (soz for the cliche). Agger, despite my constant defending of others against Modo, KHL etc in contrast, is a good player I'll personally be sorry to see go. I think there's much of a muchness about our centre halves, they're all "decent", but he's got the right attitude mostly (like Skrtel) and wears his heart on his sleeve. I hope he stays.
