We are Certainly getting the rub of the green this season...

Under Dalglish we went a silly amount of games without getting 1, so many decisions did not go our way...

We seems to get a lot of decisions now, whats changed ??

Gerard this season.. 13 goals and 10 from penalties.

Most of them are 100% stonewallers though. If you're always in their box like we are, that's whats going to happen.

I think the first was a stonewaller, the second was also a certain penalty (the follow through, he catches and tries to grab Flannagan's leg), although I'm not sure how the ref gave it from his angle and distance. Although, in my opinion, it was the right decision, there was definitely an element of guessing/evening out there.

As for why we are getting so many. Simple. We have some tricky, skilful, pacey players in Sturridge, Suarez, Sterling and Coutinho who commit players into making silly, silly mistakes. I think every one apart from Sturridge's 3rd at OT has been penalties. Even still, I think we could have had more earlier in the season. Notably in KEY games against Chelsea and City.

How many of these penalties were for hand balls?

I think Suarez is very clever.. he plays for them.. the amount of Hanballs that are given against the opposing player is unbelievable, but then he has had a few not given

I read recently that apparently Rodgers' sides have a history of winning lots of penalties. He must encourage situations where players are really stretching defenders in the box.

Yep. It's definitely a deliberate trick where he gets the defender to turn and then chips the ball across him aiming for his trailing hand.

Yeah I was starting to suspect that myself.

He plays the ball at hand height past defenders a lot.

I doubt it's just for the chance of them touching it, it's more cos that's how you can play effectively into the box or, more often, to run into himself.

We commit defenders more than we've ever done before. That and the fact that Suarez is now spending much more time in the opposition's box rather than chasing and harrying deeper.

Before this weekend we had been awarded 10 of the total of 70 penalties awarded in the league this season.

Thought the second was a pen aswell. Flanagan touches the ball first and the goalkeeper fouls him with the follow through. Good call imho. Its all about Flanno getting there first.

Yes he got the ball, but he didn't push it away. Flanno would've almost certainly latched onto it had he not been tripped. It was the correct decision. Although I don't know how the ref could've seen it. I think he was probably just trying to make amends for his earlier fuck up.

I imagine the ref took stock at half time and decided to even things out to some extent, I don't think he could clearly see the incident but the west ham goal more lead to him giving us the benefit of the doubt

Big andy was such a cunt post arch defending his challenge

There is a difference between the keepers forearm touching the ball slightly and "getting the ball". The keeper in no way at all "got the ball". Clear Pen. He failed to "get the ball" and also at the same time brought Flanno to the floor.

You haven't seen Andys tweat tonight then. He said
we where beaten by this seasons champions

Still cant believe people are claiming the keeper got the ball. As a GK, if I ever missed the ball like that i would have been absolutely bollocked!!

Bothered.

The wry smile the cunt spoke with as he defended his challenge was ridiculous.

He's an oaf, I hope he's nowhere near England this summer, we've finally got a fairly exciting prospect up top with sturridge and rooney, the lady thing we need is this chump barrelling around

I don't think the ref would have blown for a pen if he hadn't given them the goal in the first half.
Tbf it's a soft pen. The keeper does get some of the ball and sure he takes Flanno out but that happens on the pitch in every game and nothing is given.

They're discussing the same on the SCUM forum.

I had a quick look at this, and I must admit I was surprised at the number of mancs who said that Liverpool deserved most of their penalties because of the way they played.

There were still loads who thought the opposite of course.
