I've found that previous to last season a lot of people I knew didn't like LFC. I'd have Chelsea/Arsenal mates who would support united when they played us.

Ever since last season, I found the perception of our team had changed and people had started taking a liking to us. I even had a Chelsea mate go to watch LFC v Tottenham and he couldn't stop talking about how we have the best attack in the EPL.

Does anyone else have mates who previously didn't like us but now enjoy watching the brand of football we play?

I must say, Brendan Rodgers has done a remarkable job. He has removed most of the deadwood and built a really strong, young squad who can gel and with age and experience, dominate world football. I supported us even during the hicks/gillet era and it's just amazing how far we've come in such a short time. Long may it continue.

There must be masses of young kids, especially black kids, who are now following Sterling and thus LFC. It happened much the same when we signed Barnes. And generally last season's performances must have attracted lots of 'floating fans'.

Good point, and don't want to turn this into another Sterling thread, but he's fast becoming *the* star of the team. He should get the number 7 shirt next season.

I've started noticing this as well, we play fast attacking football, with a British coach and a boat load of young British players, it's to be expected. We will be the go to team on FIFA this year, and you'd be surprised at how much of an impact that makes on the <18 year old demographic.

The filthy casuals have switched allegiances, I have a coworker who apparently picks the team that plays the sexiest to support each year.

You are right to some extent but most importantly we play entertaining football. My younger brother is a scum fan but he loves watching us play. Well at least last season when we played Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling.
I remember Wimbledons team in the 90s with Euell, Gayle, Ekoku, Cort etc, didn't like that team one bit.

That's sort of what I meant. Sterling - like Barnes - appeals because he's an exciting player. The team appeals because it plays entertaining football.

Kids I interview and young American kids in general are suddenly liverpool fans.

A lot of it is supporting the winning, or sexy team.

Over here' it's all about the winning, there's no appreciation for loyalty.

I found that a lot of people were torn between enjoying our football but desperately wanting Stevie to fail in his own personal quest to gain a winners medal. And it was more than just the usual suspects.

My boy no longer mocks me Saturday mornings and my fiancee has stopped asking why I support such a hopeless team. That is serious progress.

(They came into my life during the Woy era.)

I think the biggest example of this is we even have United fans over here admiring us. Can you imagine that during the turgid crap of the previous 5 years?

And that's why I really don't care for the NBA or the NHL.
I used to support a team called Winnipeg Jets. Mainly because one of my favourite players played for them.
Sometime during the 90s they just disappeared and were suddenly called Atlanta or whatever.
Now they're back again, what's the deal with that?

Yeah you could bring up Wimbledon, but annexing teams isn't that common in top tier European football.

I think Atlanta got a franchise, but it never really bedded in, so they moved back.

Winnipeg move to Phoenix (Coyotes) ... There's a team there again though.

How on earth have you allowed your boy to support a team other than LFC? You need to try harder next time mate.

Loads of my mates who support Arsenal, Utd and Spurs are now talking about us in a positive way.
They thought we looked extremely strong against Spurs and that we're on the path to become a serious challenger for the title.
Young, pacey dynamic team with a great manager and a clear plan and tactic.

There are dangers involved though. For example I've been hearing some broadcasters start to wonder aloud about ditching Woy and fetching Brendan in to manage England. I'm sure he's far too fly to go for it, but still....

Brendan take England over Liverpool ? Mate have you been supping on something you shouldn't ?

Brendan would be the perfect manager for England, however he's currently managing the greatest team in England, so no.

Not yet, but the day is young. 😉

Seriously, I'm not saying he will, still less should. One or two radio pundits have been on about it though. The media here are really turning on Woy now - they had started anyway, but him snapping at them in that latest press conference seems to have let the dogs out. Wonder what they think now about the criticism they levelled at us for cutting him loose back then.

That might not help. One reason why this idea's being mentioned now is that 'Arry has said he was going to ask Brendan to become his no.2 if he'd been given the England job.
