Didn't chairman say they have to renegotiate his contract every summer? lol

Woop!

Wow...

Maybe this explains the Cattermole rumours. He's no loss providing we bring in a decentish replacement.

Villa has agreed a figure with Leeds for Fabian Delph.

How come we're not involved in this?

£6m (plus add-ons) for a very short, very lightweight central midfielder who might never be good enough for the EPL - not worth the investment.

If it was a £2m-£3m deal then it would possibly be worth the risk but having seen him play regularly last season I am not convinced he has what it takes (Jonjo Shelvey at Charlton is more likely to make the grade).

Last season's play-off semi final was Delphs chance to shine in a big match on SKY and he was completely outshone by Jimi Abdou, Millwall's 25 year old version of Delph.

Probably

It's great money for him but I've never been convinced by Senderos.

Me neither, he seems very error-prone and always has that clueless look on his face like he has no idea what he's going to do next.

If the deal goes through, Arsenal will be left with Gallas (not very good), Vermaelen (new to the league), Song and Djourou (both young and still unproven, will need to step up) as CBs though.

Gallas is basically a good player - trouble is he's also a fruitloop. Vermaelen I know nothing about, and Wenger's record when signing defenders is pretty patchy. IMO Song and especially Djourou could actually turn out to be decent players, but they need to make more progress yet. Wenger's taking a lot of risks there, probably gambling on getting the Arse firing on all cylinders going forward again, on the basis that attack is the best form of defence.

Gollum signing Senderos surprises me. Money has to be the reason, i.e.just going for the best they can afford.

I'd also like to say, Gallas is a good player but he's never struck me as a particularly capable centre back for some reason. He's versatile at the back and very good footballer, but he can be all over the place at times.

Regards Senderos, he's a 'good' level centre back, and Moyes does a great job on his defence so I'd suspect he'd get the best out of him.

I rate Senderos a bit more than most but i think he should be trying to get a move to Italy or Germany or somwhere were the play is a bit slower. He could turn out a good signing for them but im not going to shed any tears. Making mistakes is one thing but the way he falls apart after making them is what is really holding him back, imo.

Unless Vermaelen turns out to be an absolute gem who never gets injured we definately need another centre half (whether Senderos goes or not) We've looked weak defensively in pre season

I think gallas is a good center back but needs a commanding presence beside him, expecting him to lead just isn't going to work. a bit like steph (handchoz).

After the emergance of Piquet, Barca realized the key to a good defence is to raid Utd rejects.

Yeah, that has to be the biggest WTF of the summer so far.

How about Mikel San José for £10m instead, Barca? He speaks Spanish and all...

Gallas for all his faults mentally is still a very capable cb.
He's done as a top class centre-back Oncy.

He got the cunt taken out of him on occassion last season.

Some of you obviously haven't watched much of Jonny Evans. He's gonna be an outstanding centre-back.
He was a big part of their 14 game clean sheet run when Ferdinand was injured. He also carried Neville on more than one occassion. I think hes a future gem.
