I thought it'd be Vidic that would leave this summer.

Evans needs to seriously consider his future, he's too good to be third choice CB behind an immovable partnership.

Evans is a good defender so I don't get the WTF's in that respect, I just don't understand why Barca would want to spend a huge sum of money on another CB. They already have Pique, Puyol, Marquez, Milito, Abidal, Caceres and Henrique. Now one or two may be sold (like Milito) and a couple will go on loan perhaps (Caceres and Henrique), but it still seems like a bit of a luxury purchase... particularly when you consider that they already have enough ball playing CB's. If they are going to sign another CB, he should be more in the mould of Vidic.

I'd also like to say, Gallas is a good player but he's never struck me as a particularly capable centre back for some reason. He's versatile at the back and very good footballer, but he can be all over the place at times.

Regards Senderos, he's a 'good' level centre back, and Moyes does a great job on his defence so I'd suspect he'd get the best out of him.
I think gallas is a good center back but needs a commanding presence beside him, expecting him to lead just isn't going to work. a bit like steph (handchoz).
Exactly right. Much like Martin Skrtel, in fact. The Gallas/Terry partnership was superb at Chelsea. It all started to go wrong for Gallas when he was handed the leadership at Arsenal.

Caceres has already gone on loan to Juve.

I wonder if Barca have struck up some sort of relationship with United, with Pique going back there last season, maybe this could be linked to a player going in the opposite direction? Or it could just be a load of rubbish as per.

13.45 Portsmouth have confirmed the signing of French striker Frederic Piquionne on a season-long loan from Lyon.

That will be a pretty good signing for them.

I don't think Gallas ever played cb for Chelsea if he did it wasn't too much that was the one of the reasons he left.

Gallas played loads of centre back for Chelsea... it was only towards the end of his time there that they played him at full back.

If Paul Hart keeps that shower of shite up, he'll deserve a Knighthood.

"Manchester City finally expect to complete the signing of Everton defender Joleon Lescott on Thursday in a deal worth £22m."

Fucking hell, 22 mill £ for Lescott, thats the ultimate proof that football transfers have gone completely mad.
Bought for 5 mill, sold for 22..

Lescott's a really good player.
No doubt about that, but 22 mill £??

It's no more insane than paying 18M for Glenjo one year after he was available for peanuts.

Where are they looking at playing him? He's proven time and again at Everton that he gets found out at centre back. How dominating would a Toure/Lescott partnership be?

He is a great player though and scores probably more than any defender in the Premiership.

Puts a right dampener in the 30M Xabi transfer too.

True, but 16 mill for the Premierships best right back vs 22 mill for a good centre back is a bit of a difference though imho.
The bids for Vidic was around the 25 mill mark earlier this summer. Jolyboy isn't that good..

I agree though, Glen went for 4 mill a year ago, that is hard to think about.

Lescott isn't that good.

Lescott gives them a real solid alternative at LB as well. I was told that Bridge was pretty poo for them last season.

Remember that it's city who are buying him. The fee would not be as infalted it was another club.

My mates now saying Pato and Aguero arent going to Chelsea.
He's convinced that Hulk is coming and reckons Robben and Beckham too.

Robben back to Chelsea?

I find it hard to believe Beckham will be going to Chelsea, he'd go to Milan, for sure.

Robben won't go back to Chelsea.

They've already got Joe Cole, Malouda and Jerkoff competing for the LW spot.

been quiet on the hulk front. how much would he fetch? he was awesome against the mancs.

He was fucking awful in the second leg.

Bassong from Newcastle to Spurs.

Luca Toni to West Ham appaz.
Id like that as it will be interesting to see how he does here.

I thought he was the better option at the time we went for Crouch. They both went for similar figures at the time.

So they've now lost Owen, Martins and Bassong. Anyone else?

Have they signed anyone?
no and not likely too either.. they have to reduce the wage bill...

Habib Beye is another on his way out too..
