They're mental over there. They keep banging on about all this luck we've had. What luck?

Missed pen by them,
6th min of stoppage howler from Pickford
Spurs penalty
Teams apparently missing loads of chances
And no injuries to Salah/VVD/Allison

Fuck sake's man - what the fuck is 'teams apparently missing loads of chances'?
If we were Manure being managed by Fergie, you'd be going on about 'class' and 'making your own luck' etc ... but we're just lucky?
Fuck that, we're just FUCKING GOOD and that may mean nothing trophy wise or it may mean a league? or CL? or both? dunno.
JUST FUCKING ENJOY IT.

I never said I believe that. I was merely explaining what City fans are saying the luck has been.

You make your own luck. Leicester City did in 2016 and if we win it we’ll have totally deserved it.

Never gonna happen mind.

Ha fuck them, Evertons season is falling apart after a decent run in Autumn. That was a proper hiding they got from Spurs, a few of them are beginning to think the manager isnt all that either. I think that derby defeat, more so the nature of it has rattled them properly. 2 points from the last 15, the familiar sinking feeling is setting in, theyre gonna be salty as fuck for the rest of this season.

From bluemoon when someone claimed we’ve been lucky:

If the pitch was in slightly better condition, Lamela could have made it 1-1 at Wembley in the last minutes.
Everton could easily have scored a couple more goals last weekend.
Watford had a few chances to make it 2-2 too earlier this month.
Tell me more about all the bad luck City have had?

On the other hand, Liverpool dropped points to Arsenal and had a goal wrongly disallowed for offside.
They've conceded about 7 goals all season, 2 of which were crazy keeper errors and 1 was offside.
They've had numerous bad calls from referees go against them too, but they don't really get talked about because they won the games anyway. Of course everyone sees the dodgy calls that go in their favour.
They've had a few shaky performances but haven't looked "ridiculously lucky" to me. When they finally click in attack, I expect to see 2 or 3 unfortunate teams get a proper hammering.

Both Liverpool and City have had their share of good luck, and both a decent share of bad luck. How far this sways depends on whether you're a City fan or a Liverpool fan. From a neutral perspective, it's laughable how City fans are claiming Liverpool have been so lucky. Of the two, Liverpool's performances this season have seemed more comfortable. City have scored more goals and had more possession, but have a weakness and are never safe from conceding. Liverpool may have won a few games by just one goal, but watching them I never had the feeling they were going to throw the game away.

Both sides have also had injuries, and both have key person dependencies that could turn out to be the difference in May. This is where luck could play a big factor.

Liverpool have had injuries to Mane, Milner, Henderson, Gomez, Trent Alexander Arnold, Keith, Lallana, Firmino, Matip, Robertson, Van Dijk and WIjnaldum so far this season. They've done well with these injuries due to decent depth in most positions, but they are still at risk if the wrong combination of injuries happens at the wrong time.
If Liverpool lose both Van Dijk and Gomez then they are back to the leaky defence we saw at the start of last season. An injury to any two of Salah, Mane, Shaqiri or Firmino also leaves them quite blunt in attack. A long term injury for Robertson and Moreno comes back - I'd bet my house against Liverpool winning the league if Moreno becomes their first choice left back again. They'd be fine in the short term, as Mr Reliable (Milner) can easily fill in for a few games.

Most of City's players seem to have been injured at some point this season, they've largely been ok with good back up options, but again they are risk as without any two of Aguero, KDB, Silva or Sterling they just don't have that same cutting edge. We've all seen what happens when Fernandinho can't play too.

Either way, both City and Liverpool this season really are top sides. If either had come 3 or 4 years early, they would have walked the league. From the neutral perspective, we are fortunate that both sides have hit this level in the same season, and we could see an exciting title race.

And to those who think the league is over based on 1 result, both sides will drop points later on in the season. Even the greatest teams can have an off day, and losing 2 games in a row is never out of the question. If it gets to the point where there is a 10 point gap, I'd be worried. Just think back to the season where United "won the league" half way through the season. What was it, an 8 point gap with 5 games to go?

The game at the Etihad could be very interesting, especially depending on how the next 2 games go. City play Leicester and Southampton away, which are no guarantees (Leicester have just won at Chelsea and Southampton beat Arsenal last week, and Palace have just laid out the instruction book on how to take points from City). Liverpool have Newcastle and Arsenal at home, again, Arsenal should be a very tricky fixture. If Liverpool manage to maintain a 4 point lead going into the game at the Etihad, then I can see it being very similar to the CL 2nd leg last season, where City really had to go for it to get the win. Liverpool would be happy to play for the draw and maybe hit City on the counter. Any closer than a 4 point gap could lead to a similar cagey affair to the reverse fixture a couple of months ago. I can't wait for the match.

Good post, but why does Rurik claim to be neutral?

Oh - sorry mate.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
hope the little nipper is doing well.
Are you having play dates with @Ryan's lil one?

We have had margins on our side, but still showed enough to deserve the wins we carved out. I feel that the last games or so we really have been flying more than earlier in the season.

Last season City had a run of about 4 in 6 games that they won in injury time - this season they are wasting similar type opportunities. Either way - it’s going to make for an exciting season but my heart may not make it. I can’t find myself being able to think about each game.

What? If we win it, it is comparable to Leicester?

Not the way we are accumulating points but just like we said they were lucky with injuries, rivals will say that about us if we win and don’t lose any of our vital stars such as VVD Allison and Salah.

We are track for 100 points it’s actually insane.

People used to say Klopp could only play one way and he was found out at Dortmund.

He’s proving to be one of the most adaptive coaches in the world.

The last 5 months have been jaw dropping

I love that when they talk about the missed pen by them, they say it’s “luck”

It’s not, it’s just that it was a fucking shit pen by your lad.

The Pickford one yeah and we haven’t had any of the main players suffer a serious injury. But apart from that we’ve had fuck all.

Oh and you don’t see them banging on about their Burnley game at home, when Kompany should have been sent off after 10 mins with the score at 0-0. They went onto win that one 4-0.

They are just a bunch of cry arses and it’s beautiful going on that website every day. I actually go there nowadays before I come on here.

Ha I’ve never been on other forums but since Wioland started this thread I have been and as you say it’s brilliant going on there now.

Every match thread of ours is hilarious

I had a few mins to spare this morning so as usual I checked this place out. Someone suggested that they sometimes go onto bluemoon before this place. I'd never been on their before but fuck me what a bunch of whoppers. They seem unbelievably annoyed about everything LFC - They really hate us LOL. Anyway that got me thinking about RAWK and that led me to KopTalk. I thought I'd check out the old girl see how it getting along. For one thing that fucking idiot Carheex is still there. Wow! It's fucking awful. A disgrace actually. They've got this rolling news thing at the top - Saying things like 'Insigne close to signing - Exclusive' You click on it and it sends you to the membership page as It's content is for their eyes only. Fucking £50 a year! For something you can see on Newsnow! I made me feel a little sick so I scurried back here. Makes me appreciate this place a whole more.

The whole we've had no injuries line confuses me when we've been playing without our first choice right back, and only two fit centre backs for the last month.

In fairness they realise we have had injuries just nothing compared to theirs which is true.

Nah, not having that

They've still had quality in backup. We've shat ourselves whenever lovren has to play
Ha ha true but our defence is still better than theirs with Lovren.

Losing your three best attacking players is always gonna hurt

i don't buy this city is affected by missing aguero, kdb, david silva and kompany thing.

this season, aguero and silva missed 4 games, sterling misses 3.

for us, mane missed 3, firmino missed 1, robertson missed 3, taa missed 5, gomez missed 5.

they don't whine last year, do they.

Well considering KDB is the player that makes them tick going forward he’s a huge loss so with him out the others missing compound it
