Can't be arsed trapcing through the thread, but whoever suggested we missed Lucas yesterday is talking out their arse.
We didn't. What would he have done that would have got us the three points, cause there's not a chance he'd have scored, and Norwich didn't put us under too much pressure, they just had one good chance and buried it.
We should have put one of our chances away and we'd have got the three points, simple as that.
I'm sick of us not converting the chances we make, particularly Suarez, as great as he is.
Kenny's subs were questionable and leaving Carroll on the bench til the 79 minute or whatever it was was a terrible decision.

We definitely missed Lucas. We didnt' have a ball winner in midfield. Norwich just walked through us at times.

We were a mess at the back for their goal.
Gerrard & Adam kept getting in each others way.
Maxi should have featured.
Kelly is our best RB
Skrtel is not good enough, let's see Coates.
Every sub was wrong and harmed the team performance.

- Adam should have been subbed for Henderson or Spearing. Him and Downing - possibly the best players for their former clubs last season - need to be told to buck up or they get dropped.
- Kuyt is a waste of space. Makes noises about deserving a starting place and then does fuck all to warrant it.
- Maxi definitely deserves his chance now.
- Johnson is a waste of space. Kelly was definitely missed.
- Carragher and Skrtel once again suddenly decided to go to pieces. Carragher's been doing my head in for a while but Skrtel is the more likely to be replaced.
- Carroll should have started or come on straight after they scored. Discounting the miss against Norwich, I think he would have put away the header that Henderson missed against utd.
- Fuck off switching wide players, especially if Kuyt is one of them.
- I got stung by a wasp yesterday afternoon on the back of my head and had a mild allergic reaction today - feels like the worst hangover I've ever had!!!!!!!!!!!

I've watched it and there was time for one to get across and do enough. If Reina had stayed on his line he might have saved it aswell, I know we need a centre back, but picking them out for the goal is ridiculous, they weren't given a chance to challenge for the ball because Reina rushed out and gifted them an open net to head into, unchallenged because the defenders were knocked out the way.
I hate agreeing with Modo, but the defenders were nowhere near it. Reina should have stayed on his line but that is a separate issue.

To ease my guilt, Aquaman would have been utterly useless if he had played and hid as seen as he got kicked (and if someone mentions that one good game he had against relegated Portsmouth I'll punch them in their virtual face).

Also, Downing would have had a minimum of two assists (yesterday, and god knows how many during the rest of the season) if someone in our team could head. Suarez in particular missed a sitter, but there were others.

LOL !!! - Overall it was a bad day for you then eh ?

I have not seen any of the match highlights but from reading through the posts I guess we have a finishing issue in front of goal. It does make me happy that we are creating the chances ... but don't mean nothing if no one scores I guess. Hopefully the players will be hungry in the next game - it is very strange seeing Newcastle up there right now though, and today spurs are above us. Good thing is - we are only 10 points behind the leaders and 4 points away from a top 4 finish, so there is still hope.

Love this part.

Love being right...it's becoming too easy nowadays.

Aquilani is still boss and would have been better than any one of his "replacements" and we should have bought Cahill. 😉

So it was the defender's fault and we should have bought Cahill who's been pulling up trees for Bolton all season? To be fair anyway, one of those 'defenders' was Glen Johnson, who I don't rate defensively in any shape or form, but the goal could have been avoided more if Reina stayed on his line, the point is there were two defenders there who might have done enough to prevent him getting a clean, free header on goal, instead they were knocked out the way. If Reina stayed where he was we might have done enough to stop the player getting any direction or power on the ball and Reina would have had a simple pick up.

Smug cunt.

i was tempted to mention the cahill point

thought it was moot and fucking stupid what with bolton having the worst goal difference in the league.

*EDIT*
oh, and less of the cunt talk

I don't honestly think that any player had a particularly bad game. We were unlucky hitting the woodwork so many times, and on another day would have won easily.

If anybody is to be blamed, I think it is Kenny for his badly-balanced starting lineup and illogical substitutions. If Roy Hodgson had been in charge of that match, there would have been several threads attacking him.

it's getting really tiresome having shit loads of shots and then having the opposition score with pretty much their only shot at goal.

I don't think I was alone in saying it, but I got slaughtered for it, Suarez isn't clinical enough to be relied upon so heavily, he'll create something from nothing but we lack a natural goalscorer, which is why we need another striker, or start giving Big Andy at least a go.

It's not the first time this has been said on this thread, but it was a bad decision to start the game with Downing and Bellamy, but nobody who was going to benefit from their crosses. If Downing and Bellamy started, then Carroll should have started. Kenny could have dispensed with Kuyt for all the impact he made.

Yeah I didn't understand why Downing AND Bellamy started, he should have just gone with a front three from Bellamy, Suarez, Kuyt and Carroll. It needs shaking up a bit.

I thought suarez wasn't a natural finisher from day one but said nothing for fear of being savaged. he is a creator not a finisher.

hate to kick a man when he is down but when kuyt enters his 'winter slump' I seriously don't see what he adds, an utter waste of space.

I was pleased when i saw the line up. If we line up that positively against alot of the dross in the league then we will get our rewards sooner rather than later. We did create alot of chances and played some great stuff which admittedly became more sporadic as the game went on (the changes didn't help). Bar a fuck up that has cost us the game i did enjoy the performance but of course the finishing was bloody frustrating. Positive attack minded football is the way forward and hopefully we will hit a spell where everything starts flying in for us soon.

Completely. Yet he's come out of the norwich game relatively unscathed as far as i can see
He doesnt seem to have a position in this team. His position (where he has proven to be effective consistently for club and country) is wide right of a front three. What the fuck he was doing as the libero in the hole is beyond me. Its like asking a fucking monkey to paint a masterpiece.
I just dont understand why managers are so fucking smartarse.
If kuyt plays it should be wide right of a THREE, or at a pinch up top in a two NOT in the hole or wide in a four.

I think he played there to help solidify the midfield a bit Oncy, it didn't work really but you could see the reasoning.

Too depressed to think! That is two games in a row that we ought to win/should have won but did not!
Not really mate. We were at home......to Norwich!
If we wanted solidity we should have played Spearing alongside Adam and let Gerrard create.

Anyway anyone with any fucking sense knows Suarez should have played there with Carroll up top.
Roll on Stoke.

Sunderland we were poor second half and didnt deserve to win
Stoke we should have won -3pts
United we should have won -2pts
Norwich we should have won -2pts
Thats 7 points thrown away through poor finishing and bad management choices.
Not good enough.
Maybe its Gerrard. We were winning till he came back 😉

Downing should mostly play when Carroll is as well. And Carroll defo should play.

I don't think we did that much wrong against Norwich really, well, apart from not scoring and conceeding another easy goal. Which of course is more than enough wrong.

What I mean is we could be on the brink of a very good run but we have to play Carroll imo as Suarez as been said isn't reliable enough infront of goal at this stage.

I'd probably go for this formation going forward:

....................................................Reina...................................................

Johnson..........................Carra...................Agger.............................Enrique

.................................Gerrard......................Adam.....................................

Henderson..................................Suarez..........................................Downing

...............................................Carroll........................................................

The thing is , I think we have two sleeping giants in the terms of goalscorers In Carroll and Suarez.

they both can't possiby continue spurning so many goal scoring chances.

Things will turn and some unlucky sods will have a few put past them in the coming weeks.
