Great play. Thank goodness someone invented coaching so that it's possible to play like that again.

@Silver Sean Did you always hate Arsenal or is it just since they invented football with the arrival of Wenger?

Remember that match - McMahon got a call up to England on the back of the first goal. I had forgotten how bad his hair was though.

Great nostalgia - No shirt names, players 1-11, with 12 & 14 as subs, tight shorts (mmmmmm), swaying packed Kop and bad hair. What more could you ask for?

It was a pity that McMahon ended up getting drawn into that ridiculous 'hard man' battle with Peter Reid. Just when he could have pushed himself on to a higher level he seemed to get distracted by a pointless rivalry with the much less-talented simian sod across the park.

I was brought up to hate them. My old man was a scouser, hated cockneys, especially Arsenal ones. But yes, my utter hatred was cemented with the media love in of Wenger and their ridiculous fans shouting 'hoof' when they practically invented bypassing the midfield under George Graham.

Aldridge always seemed to know where to be to sneak a tap in, I wish he could have a word with our 2 wandering Italians.

Enjoyed that, thanks.

Quite a lot of scoring threat in that team - Aldo, Beardsley, Barnes on their own was impressive enough and Whelan, McMahon, Houghton could chip in too.

I guess it was a lot more free flowing in those days compared to the chess match that football has now turned into thanks to Rafael Benetiz.

Don't want to jump on Sean's thread, but I forgot how "World Class" Beardo could be, he's very Suarez like here in the 5-0 demolition of Forrest, same year:

Enjoyed that, loved Beardo, gutted when he was sold, .. but you know that Hanson and Lawrenson two world-class CBs, would be absolutely grilled on here for that defending 😉
