Poulson can play further up when needed. Not off the striker granted but there's an argument that he was a cheap acquisition for depth. Now Aqua has gone people will know were gonna fight tooth and nail for the best price

If it is just the 12 million fee and no player involved that is a disgrace, especially as Hodgson has publically announced the fee at double that.

If we get a player as well, if he is decent and in a position we need, I would be more inclined to accept that as at least then we wouldn't be worrying so much about whether Hodgson will have the cash to spend

Seems a rather silly stance to take. Straight swap for Messi is, strictly speaking 'a circumstance'

Did we not agree personal terms with Danny Alves before a final fee was agreed?
I don't think it's probably that uncommon a practice to be honest.

I expect lots of clubs have gone through a protracted negotiation process over the fee just to discover that the player couldn't agree personal terms.
