Actually... Pennant was probably the biggest mistake... just thought I'd mention it 'cause no-one else had.

More fool you for beliving everythin parry says then rage..success is measured on much more than jus winnin the league.though of course it is the ultimate and what a manager should be strivin for
so now who's changing the goalposts?

you all know why rafa was brought in, i need say no more on the matter here.
You're a Real Madrid supporter aren't you? Can't believe it took me all this time to work out as it is so obvious now that I think about it.

By the way, if our squad is no better than the squad Rafa inherited, why does this squad get 86 points and the other 60? Rafa's doing a good job somewhere.

Didn't we make a profit on Bellamy & Gonzales?

I thought we only lost 5m on Keane.

And as for Dosenna & Babel. Wenger, Mourniho, Ferguson et all have made at the very, very least similar boo-boos.

That tends to happen in transfers... they don't all work out.
Indeed. You can criticize him for errors in the transfer market but you can't criticize him for recognizing them and dealing with them swiftly. And in terms of transfer fee paid on arrival/transfer fee received on departure I think he's done remarkably well, even with the flops.

I actually think rage would have more of a point if he concentrated on missed opportunities, rather than clinging to a stupid figure which he took out of context about ten pages ago. And even then, without explicit knowledge of what Rafa had available to him at the time, it would still be entirely speculative.

he wasn't brought in to allegedly make us money. he wasn't brought in to just improve our points totals. he wasn't brought in to get an average points total more than previous managers. he wasn't brought in to move players on that he'd bought and then realised they were shit. he wasn't brought in to concentrate on europe at the expense of the league.

rafa benitez was brought in to win us the premier league and until (and if) such a time comes he is a failure. and when people think of his failures to date no one will immediately think of pellagrino josemi morientes and voronin as the reason why.

I can only thank the good liberals on here for ending my lonely battle against rage and ignoring him. As you so kindly, if somewhat condescendingly explained to me at the time, once I did this all would be sweetness and light, and no one would be bothered by this magnificent poster, who, after all, usually only says irritating things when provoked. I shall light a candle for you all, with immense gratitude. I'm so happy to see it's all worked out so well! 🙂

Which managers do you rate, Rage?
i'd like to say successful ones but ts a bit more than that.

i began to fall out of love with rafa 3 seasons in after athens when he attempted to divert his tactical failure onto the owners. i have never before seen a liverpool manager give up a league game with 20 minutes to spare nor buy a player for 20 million and sell him just as he was settling in less than half way through a season where had we kept him i feel that we would have won the title.

in my eyes rafa behaves as though he is bigger than our club and i long for the day that he is sacked. he will not win us the league and it will always be someone elses fault.

i would take the special one tomorrow and i have no doubt he would come either.

So there's one manager in the world you like more than Rafael Benitez?

Pretty much.

To say he hasn't done anything worthy of being banned is to deliberately ignore the fact he's on an attention-seeking agenda. Anyone can see it.

If I see another thread with Rage at the centre of attention, I'll be clawing my own eyes out.

Excellent, well summarized. I don't have a problem with any of that.

In fact, why not just put it as your signature? Then you won't have to keep repeating yourself.

Problem solved!

Anyway, as for N'Gog, I like him. He plays a bit like a sparrow but he has the enviable quality of accidentally finding himself in the right position to get on the end of chances. I like strikers like that. I don't think he's a Trezeguet on the quiet but he'll do while we're skint. We bring him on, he scores. That'll do for me. Would rather see him coming on than Babel or Pornoman x 1000.

Personally, I think you are "the special one".

I'd like to applaud Mark1975 for having the patience to deal with Rage throughout this thread.

Also, Rage is now being ignored by 6 members. I thought it would be way more.

No, its good to hear a different opinion. His opinions may be extreme but i think he does make the odd good point.

no doubt the 6 are devoted members of the church of rafa rather than just fans of the club.

you can applaud mark all you want stu, in the end his comment got shown for what it was - a very clumsy attempt to disguise rafa's failure.

Not as such but not many are as anti-Benitez as Rage.

makes me laugh, look at Mourinho's transfer record which is horrendous. Quaresma, 25 fucking million pounds he paid for him

how someone can have a go at Benitez's transfers and then talk up Mourinho is beyond me

I don't really want to get dragged into anything here Rage but I have read this entire thread and that is not what Mark1975 was trying to do/say at all. I think he just picked four dud transfers and highlighted how little (in relative terms) those particular deals cost us. He also has replied to everything you have asked him yet all you seem to be doing is repeating yourself over and over again about this £8million.

The lack of a replacement for Keane cost us the title.

we went on a scoring streak when keane was sold.

devil's advocate in regards to jose's good/dud signings, those signings; drogba, essien, carvaleo(sp) etc helped him win the league, twice.
